Ok, some of you all know my car needs a new transmission. While I come up with the funds for that, my dad and family are taking me back and forth to work. Ok, I got off work at 5:30, my dad gets there at 5:45, no biggie there. On the way home though, he noticed the car acting up but didn't mention it. We are on the off ramp of the highway at a stoplight and it dies on us. Well, yeah, it's overheating.
We are almost at the top of the hill and at the bottom is a gas station so we chance it. We did run a stoplight, but no one was there, yay! We make it to the bottom and to the gas station.

Now, while we were there, dad raised the hood and started looking around. I go in to get something to drink and some man holds the door open for me. Nice.
Anyway, I go back outside and that same man is helping my dad. He stayed there with us for about an hour. Checking this and that, even went home to get some tools and he came back too.
They do a few things, the radiator had been pushed into the fan slightly and the fan finally put a hole in the radiator. He did some stuff and put more water in. I just got home, my dad was able to drive me. And my dad has a friend that really doesn't even know me, I may have met him once, I don't even remember, but he offered to take me to work tomorrow. I had already called my ex-inlaws for help and they are going to, but people have really been nice today. :)

That is nice of everyone.

I am ashamed to say that I ran out of gas on Sunday. I was going to a planning meeting in Anaheim then meeting my husband later at Disneyland. I had over a quarter of a tank on my way there, so it should ahve been easy.

I drop my husband off at the gate and go to the nearest gas station (which is near my meeting)...I ran out of gas across the street from the Arco! I about died of embarrassment!

Luckily, some family from out of town had two strong boys and a nice father and they pushed me the rest of the way to the Arco.

THANK YOU, FAMILY OF GOOD SAMARITANS!!! :lovestruc

I always say pay it forward!

We had a stranger do something nice for us today too. We were killing time in the Thrift Store & DS8 saw a bike he liked. It was a Giant, just his size, and $15. The chain was loose and as I was talking to DS (really talking to myself) wondering out loud if DS12 or DH could fix the chain, a man overheard & said he could pop the chain back in for us. He spent a good 5 minutes fixing it for us, and his hands got totally greasy in the process. I thought the was very nice of a stranger.

I'll be sure & do something exrta nice for someone next time I'm out...paying it forward!

Good luck with your car troubles!

Always nice to hear of others being nice..:goodvibes We need to hear more of that kind of stuff..

LOL, don't you just hate that, so so close.

I have been fortunate that I have been able to either make it home or to a gas station. Oops, I just remembered the trip to chicago. I broke down in the middle of the road with a sherriff's car behind me. lol I made it to the gas station that was right there, with some help, he blocked traffic for me.
Several Disser's were very helpful that day. And thank heavens for AAA.

The strange thing is that the last time I ran out of gas, I was in college!

I knew my gauge isn't as accurate as it used to be, but to be THAT off! My car is 14 years old, so I guess it is really time for a new one.

I'm been told I now have to fill up every 100 miles. My husband was very worried that I ran out of gas that close to dropping him off. He even saw that it was registering gas and wasn't on E.

That was really nice of him. Yeah, I try to do something nice for someone everyday. Even as simple as letting them go ahead of me in line or something. You never know if a little bit of kindness will be just what they need.
and thank you, it'll get sorted out. It always does some how, just almost never on my time frame.

Yes, we do. :)

My g'father started up a mountain in tennessee on a nearly empty tank of gas. Thankfully he was able to coast it down to the next town and make it a gas station.

Serana: sounds exactly like our car problems. Our older van has had numerous repairs done to it, but we've never had enough at one time for the transmission. Second gear doesn't like to work, so we have to "manually" shift it after 20mph. After that it runs just fine. Then our truck decided to have a raidator leak in it. Something that connects the heater hoses/sensor/raidator together. Plus there's a couple gasket leaks in it that normally occur for a vehicle that old. Both require about 2,000$ worth of work each.
I put some of that stop leak stuff in the truck and it's seems to be working just fine now. Water isn't pouring out like it used to be.
You should have your father use some of that clay metal to plug the hole, then pour a good stop leak through it to create a good seal. Years ago when I first started driving, I didn't stop soon enough and fendered a car in front of me. Not bad damage or anything (i thought), and nothing to the other car. When I got home I found out that I busted the raidator. Had my BIL replace it, and it got a hole in it as well. Apparently the fan got pushed forward and the center screw put a hole in the new one as well. Thankfully that little trick worked for about 3 years till it got repo'd.

I like to tell people when their brake lights are out. You roll up beside them at a light, and honk to get their attention. they roll down the window starting to wonder what is going on, and you tell them. and almost all get a confused look of "wait, that was a nice thing. he did not yell at me... for not signaling or something" hehehehehehee

LOL! That reminds me of one time I had a car full of teenage kids. We were driving down the highway and see this car with something on the top of the car. I drive closer and it's a big set of keys. I try to get closer but they weren't cooperating much. I keep trying and then roll down the windows, first the boys started yelling at them but they weren't paying attention to teenage boys yelling at them. Then I tell my youngest daughter to try to get their attention. That time it worked. They were very grateful once they realized we weren't trying to do whatever it was they thought we were trying to do. :rotfl:
