How's the payment test going at AKL?

I've looked around and can't find any reports regarding the no-cash test at AKL. It did start, right?
I have an ADR booked for Boma (for this week) and they haven't sent anything about not being able to pay cash, as of yet. I'm wondering how it's going mostly for restaurant only guests, more than for resort (overnight) guests.

You will have to recount your experience to us when you do go. I am curious about this for a silly reason. I have a brother who is such a libertarian that Hillary is a commie comparted to him. I can just see him whipping out a bill and proclaiming for all debts public and private.

No matter what, I will be holding on to our ADR long enough to get the reminder from Disney. Curious to see if they address anything in it.

I'm booked at AKL in April and I just received a notification about the policy change this weekend.

I know 2 families that were there last week. When I asked if it was a hassle, they didn't even know what I was talking about. When I explained it they both pretty much said "hmmm guess we don't use cash much".

I rarely use cash at WDW but always have 20 or 30 in cash just in case.. I however feel if they want a policy like this at TS I am fine but at CS and the stores they should accept cash... There are still kids that go to Disney and people like us use Disney as an opportunity to teach a child about money.. this is what you have pay for it.. when your money is gone so is anything else you would like to buy.... a child does not understand charging and paying for it... I guess you could use a gift card but truthfully that still does not teach the concept of real money... AKL is one of our favorite resorts... my son likes to go the arcade, buy a soda or a snack I guess that will not be an option this year unless one of us is with him... he just will not be cool anymore

Well I guess this is the future but I can see people screaming and crying about it. I have a 55 year old brother who is an professor of literature up North and I had to co-sign a car loan for him because he no credit none nada he has always paid cash for everything including trips to Disney.

I don't know that we know yet what it means. Still hasn't rolled out past AKL and we haven't really heard anything one way or another. I think the fact that it hasn't impacted many on this board doesn't mean a whole lot either since so many here are going to be using MB anyway. Too small a sample that would be using cash only around here, I'm guessing.

Not at Disney but in NYC where I work there are a number for restaurants and shops that are cashless (you can tip in cash). It’s a pretty touristy area (by the World Trade Center). I think it is becoming more popular, but I think we have a long time before it’s the norm.

The test just started a couple of weeks ago, and I started a similar thread a couple of days ago asking how it was going. The only responses I got were from people saying it won’t work, but no actual experiences. So I guess that as far as the DIS population goes, it’s working!

A couple of quick guesses (and they are just guesses) People will spend more on their cards than they will cash and my number 1 guess is tracking. The more data they can mine about repeat customers they better they can try to get you back. I posted this before but a few months ago I had an issue that got me past their front line and I actually got to talk to someone in their IT staff. They quickly fixed my issue but the woman jokingly asked me if I would like to know how much money I had spent on my previous 4 vacations. I really didn't want to know that total (OUCH) but she commented that I seem to use my Disney Visa only while there (true). Its my guess that if they know how much you spend on other stuff might influence future offers you get from them.
