I saw they replaced the catfish and changed the dessert. Anyone have any opinions on the new stuff? Any food pics?? I love fried catfish and was pretty disappointed to see the change... but I suppose getting away from fried food is better for us all. And the dessert?? DH loves strawberries and vanilla ice cream, so I imagine this will be a winner, but curious to what others say!! :)

Haven't had the new dessert yet, but our desserts have always varied from blueberry or apple or cherry cobbler depending on our visits and all have been delish! Also, the sustainable fish is more like a boiled fish (not sure what kind) and I have to say yuck, I want my cajun catfish back! But, that does not stop us from returning, just made an ADR for there for January 2011!

My husband had the sustainable fish (he thought it was similar to a haddock) and he thought it was good. He's not a huge fish eater, but he was pleased. The dessert was still a blueberry buckle while we were there and that was very tasty.

I was thrilled with the food when we went a few weeks ago. The salad was my favorite part:

But everything on the adult platter was so fresh and tasty:

The kids enjoyed their meal (and some of mine):

And I loved loved loved the dessert. It was strawberry rhubarb crisp:

I really enjoyed our meal there and will definitely be back.

Interesting. We've never been there based on some negative reviews (didn't listen to the reviews on San Angel Inn and were real sorry :goodvibes). The pictures don't look bad.

The food was good. The fish was not my favorite, but the rest was good. I am not a big fan of rhubard so I liked the previous desserts with blueberry better, but it was still good. The kid's meal has changed for the better. I was tired of seeing the little nuggets you can get anywhere and my kids really enjoyed the chicken drumsticks instead. However, my son loved the dirt dessert they used to give and this year it was a Mickey "Moose" dessert and he didn't like it very much. I saw a lot of kids that left their dessert behind at the table. Overall, we would go back though. We love the character interaction.

The only thing we liked was the bread...I liked DD's chicken leg, but I would have needed two or three more to fill me up! We are not salad people, and we didn't like the dessert. DD wouldn't even eat the mac n cheese and she loves mac n cheese. DH & I tried it and we didn't like it either. I booked this meal for the character interaction, knowing that the food wouldn't be what we would like.

I'd say try it once, you might like it!

Thanks for the food review and photos!

I have spent the last 4 days trying to get a dinner there (and a breakfast at Akershus). Since I still have just over 40 more days, hopefully soon I will get them!

They changed the kids meal... my kids all did not like the change... sweet potato fries and chicken legs (well, my son was happy about the chicken). But girls really missed the chicken nuggets and regular fries.
THANKFULLY... they still had regular fries to bring out to us upon request, and also chicken nuggets (very good, though different than the usual ones).

As for the fish, no comment, as don't eat fish so that doesn't phase us.
Salad... seems they always change it a little bit, from type of lettuce, etc. This time there was corn in it. didn't care for that.
So we did end up a bit disappointed.... is one of our favorite meals we look forward too and didn't care for the changes. But, that said, still are happy to be dining there again in November!

Just ate there a few weeks back, after a 2 year hiatus. Used to be a favourite, but they went seriously downhill with food, service and broken restaurant (2x in a row - 1 year apart!), so we were happy to try it again.

We loved it! Food was fresh and tasty, characters were fab, restaurant rotated, and service was great! Kids' food was great - roasted chicken legs and sweet potato fries were good. So much better than most of the nasty kid food on property - our kids eat adult food, so they liked the chicken legs, as well as our fish (Mahi Mahi) and turkey.

Our only complaints were kids' dessert - they don't like mousse, and would have preferred ice cream. And salad had too much cream dressing on it and corn in it.

Other than that, we had fun! It was expensive though, as we had to pay the surcharge, but kids loved it!

Tiger :)

With all the comments, I might try to get this for a meal for us! I love rhubarb and strawberries, and I really like the mac and cheese. Plus I LOVE corn in salad now!

bxmetfan, it is a family style meal where they bring out platters of different foods for the table to share--there isn't a menu. Kids under 9 get a choice of a few kid meals.
