We are going to the house of the mouse next week (Aug 23-27, skipping 25) and I am curious on how are the crowds??

School's in session then, so it shouldn't be all too bad, but judging from what DLand was the other day, it might be pretty crowded. DCA wasn't too packed.

Local public (k-12) schools are in session by then??
I ask because when I grew up in Garden Grove (orange co.) school didn't start until the Tuesday after Labor Day. School doesn't start here until then either, so I am curious if this has changed??

Depends on the district; we have LOTS of year-round schools (my daughter started on August 9!) but some traditional-calendar kids don't start until after Labor Day. Many, many schools do start in August now, though.

Have fun! :)

I am going to be at DLR from August 26th-29th so I went ahead and found the website for the LA School District. WDW2002 is correct in saying that they start the Tuesday after Labor Day. I hope everyone doesn't try to have one last fling at Disney while I am there ;)

Our schools here in Houston started last week. This is something they strated since I graduated High School ('81) as we always went back after Labor Day too.

Our family just got back from DL yesterday (8/19). Yes, it was very crowded. However, if you use early entry, fastpass, and park hop smartly, you can see and do everything. We were able to do all of the major attractions at least twice with our 3 day passes. We actually did Soarin over California three times last Friday with the help of Fastpass.
