How's the BC Marketplace, really?

We are not big eaters and are considering upgrading hotels from POR to BC, but that would mean no dining plan to save some money. What are everyone's thoughts on the BC marketplace? Can you get a decent breakfast there without breaking the bank? I'm talking bagels, cereal, fresh fruit. I know it's not as varied as a foodcourt would be, but is it someplace we could rely on for quick and not terribly expensive breakfast food/lunch snacks?

We experienced the Marketplace for the first time on our January trip, and we were really impressed! They had some great looking sandwiches, the gelatto was wonderful, and the prices seemed really reasonable. We didn't stop by for breakfast, but they have breakfast sandwiches and pastries. I'm not sure about fruit. The menu from Deb's site doesn't list it, but I do seem to remember them having apples and bananas for sale as "grab and go" fruit.

The Beach Club is a wonderful resort, and the Marketplace is a great addition. You wouldn't regret staying there! Oh, and also remember at a deluxe resort you'll have a fridge and coffee maker in your room, so possibly you could have some breakfasts in the room - milk in the fridge for cereal, etc. That's the reason we never went to the Marketplace for breakfast!

There is fresh fruit. The breakfast croissant are great and the yogurt parfait is wonderful...full of fresh berries. You can have it topped with granola and what appeared to be chocolate chips. :sunny: We just chose the berries but yum!

We love the sandwiches too. I think they are much better than the Earl of Sandwich....the bread actually has some taste to it. ;)

All the pastries are very good too.

But there won't be the selection of a value food court since there are so many other dining options at the resort. But for your purposes, the BC Marketplace should fit the bill.

If staying at the BC you'll also have the option of taking the short walk over to the Boardwalk Bakery in the morning ~ There are tables out in front where you can eat or you can bring something back to your room. My husband is always the first one ready in the morning, so he'd usually walk over to get coffee and bring pastries back for the rest of us :) They have a few hot items too like breakfast sandwiches.
BB is open all day long with various other options available.
Their selection is great and quite tasty :thumbsup2

Have you checked out the pastries at the BCMarketplace though? A wonderful selection which matches but doesn't duplicate the Boardwalk Bakery from what I've seen.

No, I haven't ~ It sounds to me as if the BCMarketplace has greatly expanded their selections since last year. Will be checking it out in December :)

Just went to check out their menu .... They''ve definitely added to it & it sounds like some great choices!

we just got homefrom here- they have bagels, muffins, pastries at reasonable prices- we used gardengrocer.com and had cereal, poptarts and muffins in room- took a cooler also for drinks and water- saved alot of money on food items- didn't buy a mug- we had soft drinks in room!!

I'm curious. I've never had stuff delivered to my resort before. How did you work this out with the beach club? We would be driving down so we could have several non perishable items with us already, but some stuff is better fresh.
