Can anyone give me any info about Song airlines? Specifically, the flight's out of Boston. For Mother's Day, my Mom has consented to fly to WDW to have a few "girls" days with me. However, she's over 70 yo, and although she has flown a lot, she's never flown alone. So I'm very nervous about making reservations for her on an airline I'm not familiar with. However, it looks like this is possibly the only non-stop out of Boston whose flight times are close (so we can meet up in the airport). I'd appreciate any words of wisdom.

Its just a low cost carrier operated by Delta that is trying to compete with jet blue. It has personal seat back tvs and buy on board food. The crew always has seemed very nice. I am sure she would do just fine and I am sure the crew will be more then helpful to anything she may need. She will basically be flying delta under a different name with modified aircrafts.

Song's fine for your Mom. Pre-assigned seating; not the "cattle call"
with Southwest. Crew is very customer service oriented. They'll take
care of her both in BOS and MCO.

We have flown it twice from Boston to MCO - both roundtrips have been great. They leave on time and arrive early, for the most part. Crew is attentive, but not intrusive. TV would help her pass the time (I watched an entire movie on A&E - Poirot!). Security is good but not nerve wracking.

As you board the plane, you turn left for the first 8 rows, then right for the rest of the seats. Try to get her in the first 8 rows and she'll feel a little less lost as far as seating goes!

Have confidence with this carrier.

When we flew home from WDW last August, there was an 'older' woman who was flying Song for the second time. She had flown down the week before and had only good things to say about flying solo. We have been flying Song for the last 3-4 trips and they have been great. In fact, when dd and I traveled last Dec by ourselves, it was quite pleasent. Your mom should be fine.

My grandmother flew Song from Ft Myers to Boston this past summer. She loved it and is 80 years old. She got a kick out of the flight attendants doing exercises and telling jokes. Kept her entertained for the 3 hour trip!

When you get her seat assigned, (as long as she likes the window), ask for any of the "F" seats(right hand side of the plane) and just make sure to avoid the wing. That way she gets to see the shoreline the whole way down the eastern coast, its very pretty. She'll love Song. They'll give her a personal set of earphones as she boards for the tv. Its a great airline!

Mom will love Song. Have her request either the Irish Step Dancing or Barry White emergency and onboard instructions and she'll be laughing in no time. The only problem with getting the first eight rows is that they are "reserved" for Delta frequent flyers. A few nice words with a reservation specialist can get you into those seats as well. If you don't get those seats, then ask for a Zone 1 area so you get to board first.
