looking for transport to howl o scream from orlando, will not be driving

Is this at US/IoA? And where are you heading out from??? Orlando is a pretty big area.

I guess I could have googled it...oh well. Dopey me.

There is a link up above that gives you lots of options. It's not all that easy, or inexpensive. There is a Mears shuttle that will get you to Busch Gardens, from Orlando, and back again.
There are also other options. Easiest would be renting a car.

You can drop a few hundred dollars for a cab, or you can rent a car. There are also plenty of shuttle services that will take you from Orlando to Tampa and you can take a cab from where ever they drop you off to Busch Gardens. Click the link I gave you in the third post.

Problem is it's an after-hours event, like MNSSHP. I don't know whether the official shuttle runs special late-night buses; I suspect the demand isn't there to make it profitable.

I suggest contacting BG to see if they have any suggestions.

Too bad the high-speed rail fell through (although that wouldn't have been in place for a few more years, anyway.)

I just rung Mears and they are not doing shuttles this Halloween. Non driver so renting a car not an option.

Then start checking the companies in the link I gave you in the third post.

Keep in mind that it's a 2 hour drive, so it isn't going to be cheap.

Unless you're willing to spring the couple hundred for taxi fare, you may have to overnight in Tampa.

Maybe Mears will let you come in the morning of, and return the evening after. If 2 full days at BGT is too much for you, you could spend time at Lowry Park Zoo, the aquarium, the science center, Ybor City, whatever. Of course, you'll be spending more bucks on taxis to those places ... or you could try to figure out Tampa's HART public buses.

You might do the same overnight deal using Amtrak for about $20 rt, which gets you closer to downtown Tampa, but a long ways from BGT.

Have you tried contacting Busch Gardens directly, or checking their website?
To the best of my knowledge Mears has run the shuttles with the Busch Gardens contracted buses in years past and will continue to do so.
It's not considered one of the Mears shuttles (meaning with a Mears van) so that might be why the person you contacted at Mears knew nothing about it.

Ok, I double checked. Due to lack of demand Busch isn't running the buses this year. :(

You could always do Joel's suggestion - take the shuttle in the morning to the park, stay the day and night for Howl O Scream, book a hotel room (there are some very close to BG) and then catch the shuttle back to Orlando the next evening.

The family and I were just at Seaworld/Busch Gardens, US/IOA two weeks ago. There is a bus that runs from Seaworld to Busch Gardens daily. I think it was $40/person. You might check on that one. We decided against it since we had a car. It was less than an hour a half drive.

Good luck! Have fun at Howl O Scream! We are going to the one in Williamsburg at the end of September!! :)

To the best of my knowledge there is no longer a charge for the shuttle bus to/from Busch Gardens that picks up at Sea World and Universal Studios.
It used to be $10/person.

According to what I see, yes, it is indeed free with paid admission to BG. I'm just not sure how late you can take it back to SW.

It varies by season, park closure times and if there are any special events going on, such as Howl O Scream.
I've seen the buses leave as early as 5 and as late as 7 - just be sure to double check the time if you utilize the service, they don't wait past the scheduled departure time.

Hello,

I found this thread on Google and decided to double check by sending another email to Busch Tampa bay. I got an email back from their customer service team to say they are running the shuttle for howl o scream including during the freaky preview.

I just made an account to let you guys know :)

Alyce.

I will double check with my manager, the last time I checked with him we were not running the shuttles but that could have changed.

Edited on 9/5/2012:

I emailed my manager again, he confirmed what I put in my original post - Mears will NOT be running the shuttle this year for Howl O Scream. If Busch Gardens says they are perhaps you can find out more details.
