Hiya, "pinnuts" :) How's life in the fast-paced world of pintrading these days ? Figgy told me that a couple people had asked about us, since I hadn't been around in a while, so I thought I'd drop in and let everyone know we were still alive...

As to the reason I haven't been around much...Honestly, I think I just got a bit burnt out. First there was the big event in August where we got to meet so many of you nice folks. That was a blast, and I apologize for not keeping up with all the great people we met. I hope nobody got the idea that meeting you all had anything to do with my disenchantment with the whole pintrading thing, 'cause that wasn't it at ALL.

However, the beginning of the end of pintrading for me was at that event. Now, don't get me wrong...I'm not naive enough to have thought there'd be nothing but us "nice guys" at an event of that size. Still, I think almost every trade we made with people outside this group just left a bad taste in my mouth. It was like, no matter that we had some very good pins for trade, if it wasn't one of the currently "hot" traders, the other guy wasn't interested. If he was, he usually wanted way more than what we were willing to give up for a pin that just wasn't "worth" it. Now, I'm a big believer in the "old" adage of "collect what you like, not what eBay says is 'valuable'." Still, since we obtained most of our pins via that route (not living near WDW has more than one disadvantage :) ), I'm usually aware of what is "fair" in that perspective as well. Needless to say, very few of the "offers" we got were equitable in that way, or most any other.

Anyway...I didn't want to come on here just to complain about our bad experiences at an event several months ago. I just wanted to drop by and say "hi" to all my old friends, and to promise not to stay away so long (like it or not :) ). We had another trip in last month, taking my mom and our DD for their first trips, and met a couple wonderful traders on our last day at DTD (becoming a tradition to do this before heading to the airport) that went a long way towards softening my view of pintrading...and I just bought my first pin since a couple weeks ago on eBay :D

So, I'll keep dropping by every now and then, even if I am, by now, hopelessly out of touch with what is "new and hot" these days...lol...Hope to talk to everyone soon...

Well, hi there, stranger! :) Sorry to hear about the burn out on pin trading but glad to see you're doing okay.

And you should know by now that this board is as much about the people as it is about collecting.

Welcome back to the boards Eric... It is nice to see you posting again. I can relate to the Pin Event burn out...

Glad to see you posting dear. Talk to you soon.

Hey guy!! Glad to hear everything is going OK for you and your family. You have been missed.

I can appreciate your burn out. Although August did not do that to me, I think a combination of Winter blahs, a lack of pin that I was really interested in and everything going a little crazy in my personal life, I was staring this straight in the face about a month ago.Vince's meet and a break from the TA have renewed my waning interest.

Don't be a stranger! Come join us in chat. You know we RARELY discuss pins there!!:)

OMG! It's Eric from West Virginia!

Welcome Back. We missed YOU -- not your pins -- Y O U !:D  :)

Eric, Welcome Back! You helped me finish my first "real" set - the 2000 WDW POM. And I understand exactly what you mean about trading within our group - I feel safe trading with folks here. Dom had the same thought I did - stop by chat on Thursday night. We really do mention pins once in awhile :). Hope all is well.

Eric,
Welcome back! We've missed you. The baby must be in college now isn't she? :D

Hey there!!!

Glad to see you are ok. I had wondered what happened. I can so understand the burn out - same here. I had the pleasure of meeting you and your wonderful wife in August so glad you are ok.
You had some wonderful pins especially for those of us who collected the unusual and older pin guess some folk don't know quality when they see it. Too bad.

I am sending you an email re a trade we did in August.

I didn't meet you in August.....but I do miss your posts with your Legacy picture on the side.

Nice to see you back!

Hi Eric! Enjoyed meeting you in person at the event last year. Wish you were just a little closer so you could make it to one of my meets. I guarantee you would have a good time. Glad to see your post on the board and hear that you are doing fine!

Hi Eric! I'm glad you're back. I just recently crawled back out of the woodwork myself and I'm SOOOO glad I did. I really missed the friendships more than the pins.

~Nancy~

Thanks for the welcome, guys :) I just KNEW there was somethin' about pintrading that I missed :D :D :D

BTW...Parkhopper...We WILL make one of your "famous" meets one of these days...Just a matter of getting the timing right :)

I think I remember reading in the Bible in Revelations that one sure sign of the end of the world was when mimes begin to speak.

Glad to see you back around Revy...

Jeff
