Been struggling on whether to use DVC points at one of the three DL resorts or to stay at a good neighbor hotel. First time to Disneyland and while we have been accustomed at staying on property at DVC locations in Florida....am open to a good neighbor hotel if it was better than average and quite close to the parks. Mom and Dad with three kids 4, 6 and 8.

While I know its subjective, do you have your top three (in order of preference) good neighbor hotels. While we know spending time in the room is not that often, would rather not be too much on the cheap and stay at a Quality Inn / Motel 6 type of establishment....but still would like to be close (enough to walk?). Am I asking too much!

Thanks in advance of your response.

Offsite is a lot like the WDW Values without the themeing. Very basic if you are close.

Park Vue Inn
Candy Cane Inn
Ramada Maingate

If you want a nicer hotel, Sheraton or Marriot you won't be within easy walking distance.

I've stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn 2x and loved it both times. The location is awesome, rooms were clean, staff was friendly. I'd stay there again in a heart beat. I'm extremely picky, especially with dirty places and never had a problem. If you are a costco member, you can book through their website and get a discount.

I've only gone 4x, stayed once at Jolly Roger about 9 years ago, wouldn't stay there again and than last year at the Grand, and oh my, if you can swing that, stay there, it was wonderful!!!

But I've looked into for past trips Tropicana and Ramanda Inn Maingate.

Good luck on your decision!

Residence Inn Maingate is amazing. A little further away from the 'main' Good Neighbour hotels but it has suites that won't break the bank and will allow your family to have a bit more space. There are suites that have lofts which gives two separate bed areas and all rooms contain a kitchen. Breakfast with meats, fruit, breads, waffles, cereal etc is included in the price. It was a 10-15 minute walk depending on the wait time at the traffic lights but it was safe enough to walk back at night.

Why don't you stay at the GCV using your points? :confused3 I have stayed at a few off-site Good Neighbor hotels pre-DVC. If you have the option of using your points at the GCV or DLH, I'd do that. I have been reading good things about the PPH too. Last June we stayed there for a night and I was totally unimpressed but looks like they've done some room refurbs. The off-site Good Neighbor hotels do not have a resort like feel at all.
