Anyone else sick and tired of Artie?

I had to stop listening to Howard when he first moved to Sirius radio (I had XM). I was so happy when the merge happened to be able to sign up and hear Howard again.

However, I hate Artie. I feel he adds little to any discussion or interviews save to blurt out curse words. Howard had some women on the other day, trying to win a prize (they had to sing; clothes were optional) and Artie kept making the most gross comments to the contestants. I actually think that as Artie 'recovers' from his addiction (which, good for him) the more obnoxious he gets.

Also: I feel that Howard Stern is not appreciated enough for his interviewing skills. His interview the other week with Francis Ford Coppola was fantastic. Unlike so many other interviewers, Howard actually listens to his guest and frames his questions in response to the guest's responses (unlike Larry King who has a list of prepared questions that, by gosh, he is going to ask, even if the guest, in response to the prior question, happened to mention in passing that he or she killed Elvis).

My DH loves Artie. Sometimes I think he's funny, other times I think he is meh.

We saw him perform in Atlantic City once. He spent most of the time making fun of his co-workers on Howard and hardly any joke telling. And the jokes he did tell I had already heard on Raw Dog.

I totally agree about Artie! He's really getting annoying...

Howard's interviewing skills are the best in the business, as far as I'm concerned. Clearly there's the compulsory questions about women's assets, but I don't think that he lets those distract from the real questions. And I like that he asks questions that I would ask if I had the chance. I don't care about their movies as much as other stuff, and Howard doesn't let them get away just talking about the movie, or whatever, like so many people seem to want to.

I loved that interview with Francis Ford Coppola. I never knew that he financed his own movies and went bankrupt multiple times. So neat that Howard let him talk about that!

Again, the other day Howard had some young ladies on to compete for some money; they had to sing. It was pretty entertaining, but occasionally Artie would suddenly burst out with the most offensive question to one of the girls ("I'll give you $5,000 if you @%!$! me!"). It just gets old to keep hearing him say that kind of stuff over and over again.

Indeed, the low point of the Coppola interview was when Artie wanted to recite from memory one of the Godfather scenes. I was really enjoying listening to Coppola talk, yet we had to sit for five minutes and listen to Artie stumble through some scene.

Whether it is a famous director such as Coppola, or one of the lowiest strippers from a NYC club, Howard simply knows how to get interesting information out of them. Again, he listens to what they are saying. Indeed, I ended up interested in his interview with Denise Richards, although I had no interest in her at first. His interview the other day with Brooke Hogan was also great.

At first I was a little miffed with the four-day workweek he has; yet I do now like listening to the Best Of on Fridays, which is the day I actually get to listen to him the most (since I am in my car for hours that day).

I think Howard is THE BEST interviewer out there. No conducts a celebrity interview like he does.

As far as Artie, I think he's actually having a tough time now. He's been so out of it for so long, it kinda seems like he has to rediscover himself lately. He doesn't seem spontaneous and he seems to be trying to hard. Im hoping he can get comfortable with his sober self cause he doesn't seem natural right now. JMO

Im also starting to dis like Artie, he has been very obnoxius lately. The things he says is not funny, just mean.

I do not get to listen as much anymore, but I am an Artie fan. I love to hear him tell a story!! I really hope that he is on the way to full recovery.

I also totally 100% agree that Howard Stern is one of the best interviewers out there. There are so many people that I would love to have him on his show so he could interview them.

Yes! I used to just love Artie but unfortunately I don’t much like him sober. It’s a shame, since I’m really glad that he’s in recovery and wish him the best. But he just seems to be getting less funny and more abrasive every day. I’ve been really tempted to quit Sirius for a long time because there are too many commercials on Howard’s show. I swear during my commute I get about 20 minutes commercials/phony phone calls/music to every 20 minutes of actual show. Also, I can live with them taking Fridays off, but the vacations are what bug me. They must take at least eight weeks off each year. Artie was one of the reasons I hadn’t quit yet, but I’m getting closer and closer to that point.

Lately, I agree with you. He has only been annoying me the past few months. I used to like him because he seemed like "one of the people". Now, he just talks down to everyone and brags about his wealth. He just does not seem to be adding much to the show these days.

I loved that interview with Coppola!

To be honest I never thought it was the same after Jackie left.

I haven't listened since he went to Sirus, but at the end of free radio the show didn't seem the same.

I always wondered if the dire hard fans would know.
Did anyone ever mention how much the caretaker Filch at Hogwarts (Harry Potter) looks like Fred. And the fact that his cat is named Mrs Norris.

Hmm. Yes, now that I think about it, Filch does bear a rather striking resemblence to Fred; and Mrs Norris..... ? Could Rowling have been a Howard fan?

Has Fred given up on being called Eric?
