Has anyone stayed at the Howard Johnson in Anaheim with out kids? And if so, what were your thoughts? Thank you.

We are going to stay there in October for the first time and we don't have kids... do I need to bring some? ;)

I've stayed there a couple of times and never with my son...... It was fine. Wasn't too loud or anything.

I have stayed there quite a few times without my kids and it's just fine.. Nice comfy beds and I don't have to hear any whining at the end of the night about walking back to the hotel ;)

I have stayed at HOJO without any kids. It is a nice place to stay without any kids, but I mostly like the landscape at HOJO.

On my recommendation, my parents stayed there last June, just the two of them. They got a room with a king bed in building 2 for $59 with the entertainment card. They loved their experience; my dad didn't complain about any noise, wild kids, or anything else for that matter! My parents felt so comfortable there that they're thinking about staying again for a future SoCal trip even if they don't decide to do Disneyland.

My husband and I stayed there without kids, in a NQQ2. We were facing the adult pool, on the ground floor. It was really nice and very quiet! And breakfast at Mimi's next door was wonderful!

We always stays at Hojos, with or without our girls! :thumbsup2

I'm staying there in Oct for my solo trip to the mouse, and again in Feb/11 with the family. The family enjoys staying there so much, that's it's a no brainer as to where to stay in DL, with or without kids.

With or without kids, the HoJo is a great place to stay. :)

I have no kids, and I've stayed at Hojo's numerous times.

If it's noise you're worried about, I've found the rooms to be eerily quiet (probably due to my being used to hotels with exterior corridors, so, YMMV...). UNLESS it was a room next to the kids' pool area; I could hear the giant bucket o' water in the play area splash every few minutes, and sometimes heard the kids outside playing. It was totally silent at night.

If it's not being able to play in the water playground area that you're worried about, adults (with or without kids) are perfectly welcome to have fun in the playground area...I highly recommend the giant bucket o' water. So much fun! :rotfl:

Guess I'll be the sole person to say that I wouldn't stay there without a child. We stay at Hojo solely for the pirate play area and only if we can get an entertainment rate. For the same or relatively close price to the entertainment rate, you can get a room at hilton, red lion, and/or fairfield inn from priceline and IMO they're so much nicer. So without a child, we would opt to do one of those.

You aren't the only one! :thumbsup2 I'd recommend Hotel Menage, its across the freeway from the hojo but really is much nicer and more adult oriented. I've stayed there twice and there is always way less kids than other hotels, the pools open 24 hours, there's a pool side bar and a full restaurant inside! Defiantly my favorite hotel in the area.

I have only stayed at HOJO's with a child, but would stay there without unless you want to relax in the hot tub as it is in the pirate play area and can get crowded and nosiy. If that isn't a problem for you it's a a great hotel!

My best friend and I stayed in the HoJo in May, just the 2 of us. It was great! Beds were comfy, rooms were quiet and we loved it. We didn't ever hit the pool or anything, but the rooms were great and the price was right.

My DD (an adult) and I just stayed there in early June. It was just fine for us. The rooms are fine. The walk is short. No noise for us.
Can't beat the AP rate. Booked again for a couple of nights with DH is Oct.
When we don't stay onsite, this is the one we will choose....at least with AP $59 rates ;)

I agree with you. The spa was so packed when we were there with kids and their parents, I wouldn't stay there again. Splurge and stay at a Hilton or some such hotel

The idea of "splurging" on a hotel like Hilton is just so wrong around Disneyland. All of those hotels are too far from Disneyland and face it-- parking and the art are both pain in the rears. Ends up taking an hour just to do this back and forth. Also priceline will get you the Hilton for less than $50 any time pretty much so the idea of splurging on this just makes me cringe. Being within a short walking distance to the gate is one of the most important things when you stay. Period. HOJO has gorgeous grounds, it was built by the same person who built the Disneyland hotel. The rooms are huge, beds comfy. The store has everything we ever forget--it's hard to trump us as we drive and bring EVERYTHING. But there's always something-- last year a corkscrew which we got cheap at their little store and it's cute and has the Disneyland logo on it, and this year I lost my chapstick and got a nightmare before christmas chapstick there for $2.50. The jacuzzi is Hot and the jets are strong and I don't mind the kids, in fact I loved watching them from our balcony. I loved our Disneyland view this year. I could sit and watch the funwheel and I used my binoculars to see exactly where I was looking-- that was fun. OK I try to be objective-- they did close the jacuzzi this year at 10 pm, last year it was kept open 'till midnight. They must have just had too much trouble with kids in the play area. They are putting in a jacuzzi in the garden pool though.

I heard about that - I had hoped it would be done by the time we went there in just over a week but I see you've just got back.

We plan to go back to the hotel early afternoon for a swim etc (as opposed to WDW when we would swim in the evening - need to take advantage of those late park hours. I wondered if the pool area was less busy during the afternoon? We plan to spend much of our time in and around the quiet pool as we have no little ones - just a 16yo.

My husband and I stayed at HOJO in Nov last year. We don't have kids and enjoy the quiet. We got a room directly overlooking the adult garden pool and it was heaven. Beautiful landscaping, quiet, clean, perfect! We loved the walk and not having to pay for parking. The place is awesome!!! Hope this helps!
