Hi,

Just wondering if someone could tell me the difference between the 2 Queen Standard, Deluxe and Premium room at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Anaheim Resort.

Many thanks.

Hi,

Just wondering if someone could tell me the difference between the 2 Queen Standard, Deluxe and Premium room at the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Anaheim Resort.

Many thanks.

I think the main differences these days are locations. The standard rooms used to not have microwaves, but I think they have now been added to those rooms. Also, the standard and deluxe rooms had old-style tube t.v.s. I know the hotel has been in the process of upgrading all their rooms, so those room types may now all have flat screen t.v.s like the premium rooms.

Standard 2 queen - Freeway side of building 1, the seven story building closest to the lobby and water play area. Building one has the gameroom, mini mart, and, I think, the laundry room. Soundproofing has been added to the windows of the rooms on floors 1-6.
Deluxe 2 queen - Located in building 2, a four story building and the furthest away from the entrance to the property. I think of this building as the quietest one on property. The rooms overlook the pool area.
Premium 2 queen - Park side of building 1. These rooms are considered view rooms because you can see a bit into the parks and can view the fireworks from the balcony. The fireworks view though may be partially blocked by trees growing near the building.

That's great - thanks very much for the reply. Not actually visiting until next August, but always keen to snap up any early booking bargains if they become available hence the enquiry :thumbsup2

I just returned from our trip, and we stayed at the HoJo in a premium room. The beds were comfy compared to my MIL who was in a deluxe, and our view was nothing short of AMAZING. I'll do a trip report soon, and post a photo. Well worth the upgrade I think. :thumbsup2

We stayed at Hojo last month. We experienced 4 standard queen rooms. Why 4? We reserved two queen rooms which were supposed to be adjoining. When we checked in, the rooms were NOT adjoining. They count do anything about it but did move us the second night to adjoining rooms so we saw 4 total rooms all in Bldg 6, which is farthest from the park. All rooms had small fridge, MW, Keurigs, flat screen TVs, and horrible wifi. Beds were fine. No views.

Thanks for your help longtimedisneylurker! Yes, the main difference between our Standard, Deluxe, Premium Queen Rooms is the view type. Standard Queens face the highway, but all except the top floor have sound proof windows, Deluxe Queens face the Garden Pool, and Premium Queens face Disneyland, so you get to see the fireworks. The amenities in the rooms are all the same; 2 queen beds, refrigerators, and microwaves. And all of rooms have flat screen TVs now! :thumbsup2

Ahhhhh Kriss - I can't believe I may be able to add something. One thing we liked about the Premium Queen (ohhh and also the standard in building 1 ??) is that it has a separate sink outside the bathroom/shower. This helps when Mom (me :)) wants to do her hair or someone just needs to brush their teeth when the kids or husband is in the shower.

Ooh, forgot about that separate sink. I liked that feature a lot too! One thing I didn't like a lot about the Premium room though was that I found it noisier than either a deluxe room or a kids suite (post soundproofing). I had a harder time sleeping in the premium room because I could hear freeway noise, lots of street noise, and park noise (since we were usually in bed before midnight).

I could have sworn our standard dbl/dbl had this too. Am I wrong?

I believe buildings 3,4, 5 and 6 are all standard double rooms, not queens. Those are the two story buildings in the "middle". Building 2 is actually the furthest from the parks.

We are in a standard 2 queen in building 1 as I type. We have a microwave & fridge & face the freeway. Literally no noise from the freeway at all. When you go out to the parking lot there's tons of noise so they have done really well with noise control.

The room is really spacious for a standard room, too. Nice 42" LCD tv as well.

This is good to hear! We've only stayed in building 2 and love it but reserved the std queen in bldg 1 for the next trip to save a few dollars and a few steps. I'm glad the noise isn't bad. Just hope we don't get stuck on the top floor without soundproofing lol.

Very nice that they have the nicer TVs and the microwaves now on the standard queens. They didn't last time we were there. I love HOJOs

Do any of the standard queen rooms have a DL resort view, or do ALL have a view of the freeway only? The reason I ask is because we have a booking for 11 nights there next September, but if it is only a freeway view room, we will cancel the booking and go ahead with our booking at Fairfield Inn (where we stayed for 15 nights last year) instead.

We were very happy with the Fairfield Inn, but it is the pirate pool that has attracted us to Hojos this time (our son is 6 and would adore it!) - but not if the room has a crappy view.

Sorry but standard queens are all on the freeway side of building 1 - that is why they cost less. If u want a view you have to pay for a premium queen room.

We've taken the plunge and booked ourselves into a Premium room in August for 6 nights thanks to a good rate on one of the UK websites plus 10% cashback. Thanks everyone for your help info on the different room types.

When we went I also requsted as high a floor as possible to try and get the best view. Paid off big time. We were on the top floor and had an absolutely awesome view of DL and DCA, and perfect view for the fireworks too. See my TR for pics - it was our first night so not too far in.

We've done the same and requested a high floor plus away from the lifts, as when we stay in hotels we seem to be plagued by herds of elephants either above us or rampaging down the corridor from the lifts.......;)
