Just added on 55 BWV points direct. Plan to use for F&W but not this year. So, we got 2013 points (June UY) and banked them. We have this booked for August: 2 nights in studio at SSR, then 2 nights in studio at BWV and then 5 nights in 2BR at HHI...studio is just my twin DDs-15 and I and 2BR at HHI is for all 5 of us.
Do I:
1- add on 1 night at VGF in 1BR lake view for all 55 points (at beginning of trip)?
2- add on 1 night at end of HHI (so a Fri night at 66 points thus eating into 2014 points and DH not too interested in extending HHI trip)?
3- change the SSR to a 1BR and add on a night (so 1BR for 3 nights instead of studio for 2 nights...costing us 67 points and eating into 2014 points)?
4- do I just add a night to SSR in a studio for 16 points and try to rent out the 39 remaining (which are banked and can't be a transfer)?

You could pay cash for up to 24 "one time" points for those overages and not have to eat into your 2014 points. I think it's $15 pp for this.

edit: here's those details:

One-Time-Use Vacation Points

As a Disney Vacation Club Member, occasionally you may find yourself in need of just few extra vacation points in order to book that perfect dream vacation. Previously, this required borrowing vacation points from a future use year, but very recently a new alternative was introduced. They're called "one-time-use" vacation points and are available for a fee of $15 ($13.33 plus $1.67 tax) per vacation point. Availability of one-time-use vacation points may be limited or suspended from time to time, and the fee is subject to change.
Details:
One-time-use vacation points are vacation points available for Disney Vacation Club Members to use as an alternative to borrowing vacation points from the following use year's allotment.
You can obtain a maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points once per use year per membership.
A maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points are processed in a single transaction, not multiple transactions.
The fee for one-time-use vacation points is $15 (including tax) per vacation point, and is subject to change.
One-time-use vacation points expire according to the use year of the reservation booked and are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be banked or borrowed.
One-time-use vacation points are not available for waitlist reservations.
One-time-use vacation points cannot be applied retroactively to existing reservations.
One-time-use vacation points are only available for Members whose contract is closed and in good standing.
One-time-use vacation points are available only for Disney Vacation Club Resorts, Disney Collection*, Adventurer Collection* and World Passport Collection reservations.

* Available when you purchase directly from Disney.
One-time-use vacation points used for Disney Vacation Club resort reservations can only be used up to 7 months prior to arrival.
One-time-use vacation points for Disney Collection, Adventurer Collection and World Passport reservations can be used according to the booking guidelines for each individual collection.

Yeah...I know...thanks!!! We will just use the 2014 since we are likely banking whatever of those we don't use...to use with 2015 points for F&W in 2015.

Okay, was all set to book the 1BR at VGF but when I go to book I get a red message that says the resort is not available???? I did that a couple hours ago and still, just now, it shows as available when you first search date/resort/room type but it won't let me book. So odd. I kinda feel like it's too many points for 1 night anyway.

So, now do I change from SSR studio for 2 nights to SSR 1BR for 3 nights? I worry about all my other resies (the BWV resie and ADRs) getting messed up since they are all on MDE.

Or do I just do SSR studio for a 3rd night and with the remaining 39 points I can book a few nights in a studio during F&W and try to rent it out or give to friend/family? I, for some reason cannot see availability for BWV past 7 months...even though all my points are showing as there and even banked (the 2013 that I called in to bank today) and I can book with them online. Does anyone know why I cannot see BWV past 7 months yet (just got my points yesterday...will I be able to soon...maybe tomorrow?)?

I could even book us 1 night studio at BLT or VGF and try to rent the remaining points...or could book a 1BR at those places and just lose 6-9 points (can get SV at VGF or TPV at BLT).

Any thoughts. Would kinda like to rent out and make some money back or gift to someone (would be nice to be at BLT or VGF and do Kona for dinner that night). But could also use the 1BR at SSR for 3 nights...jetted tub (and could move Raglan Road ADR to check in night and do something else on the 13th...will be at AK).

Few thoughts. 1) The error message has been posted about in a Member Services thread, and is persisting. 2) It may be difficult to rent a small number of points. 3) I would do the one night at VGF for a special girls' evening. Actually, I would probably choose a tree house villa because I have always wanted to stay in one!:hippie:

We have exactly this issue
45 pts banked from 2013

What we chose to do was
to add it to our 150 pts to get 195 and make a ressie at a VGF studio for a week (plus 4 add on pts for a total of 199).

I was all set to add on a night in a 1BR lake view at VGF (which was showing as available) to try it out and be wowed...but I kept getting that red error message thing and come to find out it was actually NOT available. Using all 55 points for the 1 night there seemed kind of wasteful anyway (I'll just keep telling myself that :rolleyes1). And DH didn't want to drop 66 (week nights are only 42) to add on another night at HHI especially when he thinks the 5 nights will be enough for us there. I could have done a 1BR at BLT but that would have left me with just a few points (which would have wasted) and we'd be switching resorts too much. So, I upgraded from a studio at SSR for 2 nights...to a 1BR at SSR for 3 nights.

I could go back to a studio and save 43 points...39 of which are the banked 2013 that need to be used by May 31. I can book 2 nights at BWV during F&W and rent them out...but it may be hard to find someone who wants just 2 nights and those exact 2 I book. Could give to SIL, who gave us points once to complete a 2 night booking at SSR, as she likes to go to F&W every year...but she doesn't plan F&W until the super last minute as she needs to know her teen DD's schedule and they usually do CRO for F&W.

graueMaus- Congrats on the VGF...that is sweet. I hope to try it someday.
