Last night we went out to dinner with my husbands family. We have been married for 5 years and everyone knows that I am 10 years older then he is . My SIL was talking about surgery and I asked her what was wrong . She says that just little things all over ( knees, feet, ect.) She then says in front of the whole family " Yeah I told Casey that if I keep falling apart , I will be brand new from head to toe by the time I am really old and 35 " . She knows Iam 37 ! Evil I tell ya , just Evil ! This is not the first time she has made remarks that I found rude about our age difference . I was mad but not mad enough to say anything to her . Should I ?

Wishing all a Tagged day

 Sounds like she either just stuck her foot in her mouth or she is just really immature. Either way I would pay her no mind. How old is she?

Just leave it alone. How old is she by the way? DH and I are both 34 soon to be 35 this year. I'm so happy to be blessed with someone just as old as I am, as a matter of fact, DH is only 10 days older than me. :p :D
One thing, if she continues making comments about your age, I would ask your DH to politely tell her to knock it off. It's his job in a manner of speaking to take up for you. He shouldn't always, as you are an adult, but it helps when the DH steps in every now and then. My DH has done it for me and it only made me stronger and able to do it for myself the next time something happened. :sunny:

she is 26 and so is my husband . She makes strange remarks all the time . They live 5 hours from us so I dont have to see her a whole bunch . But it is getting old after all this time

If she was doing it to get on your nerves, don't reward her by letting her know she got to you.......kill her with kindness and let her know how wonderful it is to be you.........and of course it IS more wonderful to be you because you are obviously a classy chick for not giving in to her childishness.........:teeth:

The best thing to do in my opinion is to just ignore it. If you had to see her all the time and you were a 100% sure that she was making digs at you (she might just be incredibly stupid and keeps putting her foot in her mouth) then you might consider having your dh say something. But as it is I would just let it go.

Hi Mad4Mickey

I work with a girl who is 22 years old, is about 5"5 & weighs about 105 pounds. Well, the other day she was talking about her life & the "cellulite" on her legs when she wears a bikini....blah, blah, blah...well, then she says "I was just telling my mom how I never do anything..I mean, it is like I am 30 years old or something..."

So, I (32 years old, no where close to 105 pounds) said "Holy Cow, could there be anything worse than being THIRTY...what a nightmare..." Of course, she says "well, you don't act 30, I don't think of you as THAT old". I think that last comment was supposed to be a compliment, but I'm not sure :p .

Wasn't there a time in your life where you thought that 35 was Old? I know right now at 20 I think 30 is old! But it shouldn't be taken as insulting. Who cares about age? I just look at age like look at all the things in my life that are going to change in the next 10-15 years. Of course to me becoming a wife and mother come to mind, so of course I will look at 30 as old.

I think that you took her comment way to personal. You need to just let her little snide comments roll off your back! Besides I bet when she turns 35 there is no way she could get a 26 year old man! I'm sure all her little 105lb body will expand after she gets a chance to have kids!::yes::

speaking of foot in mouth;) I like to think I'm blessed even though my dh is 5 years younger than me!

I'd consider the source and ignore her. After all, with age comes wisdom!

Whenever the age thing bugs me(which isn't very often really) I always remember this bumper sticker I saw : "Old age and treachery will always outwit youth and vigor".

And of course: "Things of quality have no fear of time".

Speaking to your SIL or your DH about her snide remarks will only give her fuel for her fire! Stay quiet and stay a real class act!:sunny:

I remember when I was 20 and my boyfriend's brother's GF was 25 and I thought she was old!

I will never let my sister forget the time she introduced me as her OLDER sister (I am her only sister) - as if you couldn't tell that I am 12 years older.

If I were you and was absolutely was unable to ignore the barbs anymore I would probably make some remark about how terrible it was that she was aging so prematurely and how happy you were that didn't happen in your family.
