How would you sleep these 5 people?

Hi all: Just wondering how you would set up this group? We're using my points and some rented ones for a 2 bedroom villa for 5 of us. Myself (on my own), my dear friend and her husband, her 24 year old son and her 9 year old daughter. Your thoughts please?

There are lots of options. Where will you be staying, is there a sleeper chair in the living room?

I think the two best options are:

1) Couple in the king bed. You & 8 year old in 2nd bedroom, son on sleeper sofa.

2) You in King bed, son on sofa sleeper, couple and 8 year old in 2nd bedroom.

I go with Door #2, Chuck. My points, my king bed. They share the other bathroom.

We're staying 1/2 the time at Beach Club and the second half at VWL. I never thought of option 1 - sharing that room with the daughter. I'm kinda a bathroom snob and that would give me and her the bathroom that goes with that room and the other 3 can use that shared bathroom that goes with the king room. I do snore though......... Not sure the little girl will like that.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm have to vote for door #2, as well. If the 9 year old is like a niece or daughter to you, then sharing a room with her might work, but I wouldn't force that on her if it would be uncomfortable for her.

I guess I'll let the little one decide whether she wants to share a room with me or her parents. Is there possibly a fold out sofa and chair in the living room - then she can share with her brother and I can have my own room and her parents could have the master. That would be nice for them, I'd have my own room and my own bathroom. Is that selfish?? I feel selfish.

OKW, BLT and AKV* have a fold out single sleeper chair as well as the sleeper sofa in the living room.

*Except AKV Value category rooms

BCV, SSR, BWV and VWL do not have the sleeper chair.

Who is covering the cost for the rented points? If you are covering all costs for the room, take the master. Let your friends know that they have all of the other bedding to choose from and let them decide how to split the beds up among their family.

If they are covering the cost of the rented points, how many of the points are they paying for?

I've given up the master when it made sense, but in this case the young girl should be with her parents and the young man (needs his own space) can have the living room! My 16 year old son is typically the one who ends up in the living room, usually with his best buds in the sleeper chair/air mattress if needed! Comfy!

Plus, at that age they sleep like the dead, so in the morning I get up make coffee etc. and they sleep through it! I have my coffee on the patio (luxury of booking at OKW) or on the balcony!

We kind of split up the points per person using my points and the rented points. I covered the cost of 2 people even though I am one because I figured I'd be taking someone else but now I'm not. I also felt that IF I had my own room it is always based on double occupancy. Seemed fair that I'd pay for 2. I'm also doing all the work for this trip so I don't feel guilty wherever I sleep - well not too guilty. I do want to be comfortable so there is no way I'm taking the couch (and I'm a very light sleeper). The son will definitely be in the livingroom. Now I'm torn between taking the master and letting the husband, wife, daughter take the other room or letting them have their privacy and sharing the other room with the daughter. Ugh.............

Thanks all.

Don't be torn, you paid more than your share, and you are entitled to privacy as well! Your friends and their daughter are family and should be in the room together and it makes more sense for them to be in the one with 2 beds than all 3 in a king bed!

Good Luck!

I would think about the possibility of bringing a twin aero bed for the master suite. Then, the couple can take the king bed, the 9 y/o can get the aero bed and the son can take the sleep sofa, while OP takes the second bedroom.
or...
OP in the master, with the other family sharing the second bedroom. There is no way I would give up my bathroom to share it with someone not in my family. I guess that if the couple took the queen bed, the 9 y/o in the other bed, and the son in the living room, but using the second bedroom bathroom it might work. But I'm not happy with a non-family member sharing my bathroom.

You didn't mention where you were staying. At Kidani the 2 bedrooms have 3 bathrooms. ;) Think about it.

I agree with Chuck's option #2: 3 will fit just fine in the studio portion and can be perfectly happy particularly if they have an air mattress.

I agree with this. I think the family should be the ones to worry about dividing up the remaining beds, and you take the master. The young girl needs to be with her parents, and the older son wont mind the pull out queen sleeper sofa.

Oh, and you probably should have reserved at one of the resorts that has the sleeper chair.

Firstly, if it was me, I would prefer the master, but.... if the boy is sleeping in the living room, I enjoy getting up early, making my tea and having a quiet breakfast before getting my shower, so I would prefer a 2 bedroom lock-off so I could have a kitchenette with a few of my own things in the fridge/cupboard for morning breakfast and evening snacks. Of course having the jetted tub all to myself might sway me back to the master too! It really is a personal choice for you, but I seriously don't think you should have to offer to have the girl with you in either case - she should be with her parents or on an air mattress with her brother if there is no pullout chair.

You get the master, the couple on the queen bed in the studio, 24yr old on pull out in studio, their daughter on a blow up mattress in the studio. This way it leaves the living room open for late night chats and snacks as well as early morning tea

How do they normally stay in a hotel room as a family of 4? I would have the little girl bring a sleeping bag and have the family share the second bedroom and you take the main bedroom. Then everyone could use the living room as they wanted.

When we stayed at BCV in a two bedroom once, we had nine so my inlaws, sister in law, teenage niece all took the two queen beds in the second bedroom and then my 6 year old nephew slept in a sleeping bag on the floor between the beds. My girls were in the living room so we didn't have the living room free at times. But in your situation you could leave the living room free.
