We know an Elodie who pronounces it like Melody without the M. I like the name.
eh - LOW - dee
The boards are malfunctioning again. My post appears before the OP.
LOL.......I would have guessed eh-LEN-ee, which is correct, or ELLEN-ee.......
I know it's really none of my business, but I am going to chime in as an adult with a different spelling of a common name........
Please don't give your kids a weird name with a weird spelling!!!
It is annoying pretty much every day of your entire life. I have been spellling my first name for my entire life and then 20 years ago I married a wonderful man with a wonderfully ethnic last name. I now get the pleasure of spelling my entire name and then constantly correcting everyone who mispronounces my last name.
I gave each of my children completely common names with common spellings so at least they only have to deal with spelling their last name. I tell my daughter to find a lovely man with a easy last name!!!We'll see how much she listens to me!
Definitely consider this once or twice. As you can see from the small sampling on this thread there is no real consensus on this pronunciation.Your daughter could very well spend a lot of her life spelling and correcting pronunciation of her name. Are you (and she!) going to be okay with this or will this be tiresome over the long haul?
My DD18 is named Eleni, a very common name for Greek girls. NOT at all common for American girls. You can't imagine how many ways we have heard name (forget spelling it right). The correct pronuciation is eh-LEN-ee. But we hear uh-LANE-ee, eye-LEEN-ee, ELLEN-ee, and you-LAY-lee.And it probably doesn't help that we have a 10-letter Greek last name that gets mispronounced 40 ways to Sunday. Fortunately, Eleni is okay with it, although she has taken to calling herself Elle lately.

It's funny. I too have an "uncommon" (read: correct) spelling of my name Jeannette. Two "n"s... it's French. EVERYONE, I mean EVERYONE spells it wrong until I tell them two "n"s... even if they've seen it in writing. I also had many teachers pronounce it as Jean-Nette.
What's worse is I went from a wonderful French last name that I ALWAYS also had to spell (or pronounce) to a married name of 3 letters that is a VERY common word in the english language. Day. People ask me how to spell it. Really? Like ToDay not Tomorrow.![]()

Another one who says like Melody without the M!
