How Would You Make Dining Arrangements if You're Staying Concierge?

We are staying concierge next summer and plan to take advantage of the food offerings - especially breakfast. We all tend to eat less on our Disney vacations because of the heat/humidity and all the touring we do in the parks. It's almost as if food becomes an afterthought. So my dining plans for next summer are all about lunches. I think if we book lunches each day, then we can do continental breakfast in the lounge, a lunch at a park/resort then get some light snacks in the evenings with the offerings in the lounge. Has anyone else done things this way when staying concierge? We have small kids (they will be 3 and almost 5 when we go) and will be back at the hotel each afternoon by 4pm to unwind from the busy mornings/afternoons.

I think we are going to do the Spirit of Aloha or HDDR (haven't decided yet) but that is all for dinner, except the Crystal Palace on our first night.

I'd love to hear how other concierge guests plan their meals and time in the lounge - if you even plan for that at all.

Thanks so much!!!

Your plan sounds good. I know some people think that concierge is not meant to be a meal replacement but that is exactly what the continental breakfast is offered as. If we have a big lunch then many times some light appetizers offered in the lounge is enough for us. At the AKL they offer desserts later in the evening as well. (so does the RPC/GF and if I remember correctly the Poly does too. I agree that with the heat there is less need to eat. When we go in December though that is a BIG part of our trip (cooler weather and holiday celebrations). Have a wonderful trip.

We always stay concierge. The breakfast that is offered has lots of choices - assorted bakery items, bagels, assorted breads, cereals, fruits, turkey & ham. You can eat as little or as much as you like. After the second day though my DH and I get bored and go to the Poly and get an egg white omlette and Kona coffee. We don't eat carb/sugar stuff so the only thing left is bran flakes, skim milk and fruit.

I completely agree with the heat....we cannot eat heavy food and walk around and go on rides in the sweltering heat. With that in mind we like to get out of the heat during lunch and go to a TS restaurant, we again keep it light...salads or grilled food.

Our big meal is dinner. It is the end of the day, we're relaxed, cooled down, dressed up we had fun in the parks and now it's all about a great meal...we still don't eat heavy foods but enjoy a relaxing dinner at nice TS restaurant. It's a great way to end the day.

We hardly ever eat the food at the CL, with the exception of a few breakfasts, a few glasses of wine and maybe a dessert and a cordial after dinner. The food is just OK, there is a wide variety and the food is "themed" every night (or it was last 3 visits) Italian, Mexican, Asian etc...
The offerings at night are not meant to be a dinner subsitution.

For us keping the larger meal for dinner works for us. Some people say we don't get our "moneys worth" out of the CL because we barely eat the food. We don't stay CL for the food, we stay for the higher level of service.

We grab our breakfast every morning, but the rest of the day is hit or miss. I don't think the night time offerings are enough for a meal, per se, but if you have your big meal for lunch, then maybe a light nosh will do it for you!

I love stopping into the lounge on my way back from the parks to pick up coffee, and maybe a sweet or two.

We'll be staying at the Polynesian concierge.

Since I'm planning our big meal for lunch time, then I was thinking that the light appetizers in the evening would be more than enough. When were in Disney last month, I only ate 2 meals a day and then maybe a piece of fruit or some pretzels. It was plenty in the heat. So I am hoping this plan works for us. None of us really care for heavy breakfast food (eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.) We eat cereal and fruit for breakfast and that's plenty.

I am looking forward to the theme nights at Polynesian Concierge - if they are still doing that in a year from now.

Thank you for the thoughts/opinions. It's appreciated!!!
