But that is just because I really don't get offended easily. My friend and I had a HUGE laugh, tears streaming, a few howls going on...but I don't think everyone would of thought it was so funny.

So, I ask, how would YOU feel if a friend fell asleep on you while you were in the middle of a story on the phone?

A couple of weeks ago, I was talking on the phone with a friend. I was telling her about my brother out in CA. I am a talker, no denying. So, I said "so can you believe it?" no answer. "hello?" "Karen?" Heeellloooooo? hhmmph! I THINK she hung up on me!

So, I figure, if we got disconnected, she would call me back. She didn't. After a few days, I think it is weird she just disappears in the middle of a conversation. So, today I call her to make plans, and I ask her "The last time we talked, did you hang up on me?" She starts laughing, and says she passed out! OMG...SHE FELL ASLEEP. She said she woke up with the phone in her hand. Her DD asked her who she was talking to, and it occured to her, she had been talking to me. She said she meant to tell me a few different times in the conversation she was tired, and needed to go, but she was too tired to tell me.

Now that beats all. I have been told all my life I talk too much, but nobody had ever fallen asleep on me! (OK, OK... maybe my DH a time or two, but we would be in bed, and it would be late).

So, you you get a good laugh out of this, or be offended?

I would most likely be the sleeper (see my screen name). I would think it was funny and would probably go to their house to pick on them.

I think I would just laugh and actually hold a special place in my heart for them. Here they are, obviously exhausted and ready to fall asleep at any moment but instead of blowing you off with a "gotta go" they attempt to hang in there and be there for you. You've got to admire the effort. And next time, try the Cliffs Notes version!

It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to shorten a story. I have tried, many times, even with some help from my friends, and I just can't do it. I have to throw in all the pertinent details, you need to know everything that has happened since BIRTH in order to understand the story I am telling.

Years ago, a few co-workers pooled their money, and told me if I could go 10 whole minutes without saying a word, they would give me the money, it was around $70. I really wanted the money, and who can't stay quiet for 10 minutes? Well, they started discussing something they new was a hot topic for me, and I lasted 85 seconds. That is when they knew I was a lost cause.

Oh, you and I are sisters!!! I have a dear friend who is as much a phone chatter as I am. We both have children, so the homework/bath/bedtime routine takes up most of the evening, and we often call after 10, sometimes 11 or, more rarely, 12. And we have LONG conversations - about nothing, really, but they keep us amused. However, because we are up so late, it's not uncommon for one of us to fall asleep. Occasionally, we can feel ourselves going and say, "Well, I'm falling asleep so I'm hanging up." The other person knows not to be offended by this honest assessment, as in fact, we will be left holding a phone and saying, "Hello? Are you there? Did you fall asleep?" otherwise!!!!

So, of course, I couldn't ever be offended by this, and I too think it's funny!!!!
