How would you feel if Disney created a subway system?

What if throughout the WDW Resort there was a underground transportation system that provided access to every hotel, theme parks and DTD attraction? Imagine being able to get to your destination quickly and at anytime of day without having to stand in the heat waiting for a bus or ferry boat?

I always thought Disney should create a system for Premier Guest or VIP that allows them to beat the crowds during early morning Peak Season. SO...imagine being able to be dropped off INSIDE the park as opposed to outside?

For those like myself who have experience with Subway's...I would LOVE to see an idea like this come to life. May be wishful thinking but I think this would be awesome.

One problem, you cant build underground in Florida because of the water table.

The Utilidors at the MK are actually on the first floor, the park is on the second.

Ditto. There's a reason there are no underground subways in Florida. It would be wonderful if you could have one though.

Personally, I do not want to see them invest the money into a subway system. The current system they have works pretty darn well, and the cost vs benefit just isn't there in my opinion.

I think that money could better be served in other ares to better the guest experience like on grounds (but out of park) dining, bars, entertainment, new attractions etc.

I was going to say that I think I would feel like it would be a good idea to grow gills. :rotfl:

I'd rather see the monorail system expanded to reach from Animal Kingdom (and AKL) all the way to Downtown Disney!

Actually you can very safely build tunnels even under the watertable. Most tunnels where I live are. (in the Netherlands) It just would be very expensive. It's simply cheaper to have busses with airconditioning.

The utliidors were so expen$ive to build under the Magic Kingdom that they opted not to build them in other areas. So I really can't see them building a subway system.

Another vote for improving/expanding the monorail.

It would be convenient, but not feasible given the water table (that's why the utilidors are on ground level and the park is built up above them)

not agreeing that this is a good idea because the current system works and the cost of a subway at WDW would be astronomical, and I'm not an engineer, but I'd think that if they can build subways under rivers (NYC) and bays (Oakland/SF) that they "could" build a subway in Florida

There's a difference between going thru the ground/rock *under* a river and building it, essentially, *in* the river! :)

What an engineering nightmare -- fragile limestone substrate, sandy soil, water table issues...

It would have to be a SubmarineWay.
