How would you do this; wait list and resort change?

:goodvibes Let me start by saying thanks! I'm trying to figure out how to set up my wait list. Being able to have only two is kind of a buzz kill.

Currently we've got Oct 14-25 at the THV. At this point, we won't be staying at the THV.

We want to do a split stay between some part of SSR and AKV.

I'd love CL at AKV but know the chances are slim.

I can change in 3 weeks.

I'd prefer the SSR part of the trip to come first.

Need help wrapping my head around what to do.....

At this point I'm thinking at the 7 month mark to change to a 2 bedroom at SSR from Oct 14-19 and change to a 2 bedroom at AKV from Oct 19-25.

But wait, there's more.....

I'm going to wait list CL at AKV but I can only have two wait lists. How would you set up your wait list? I'd love the last 6 nights to be CL but know that's next to impossible. I don't want to move down so to speak by going from CL to non CL. Am I confused, would it really be moving down? :confused3

Also I'd take CL for as few as 3 nights if it's all I could get.

Should I keep the first part of the trip THV in case my kids change their mind yet again or DH gives in? Think a 2 bedroom at SSR will be difficult to get past the 7 month mark?

And.....what if by some miracle CL is available during the first part of my trip? Would you do AKV CL before SSR? We generally relax more during the second half of the trip and AKV just screams *resort time*.

What would you do? :flower3:

Well, I have never WL anything, so I can't help you with that. However, I have stayed at SSR and AKV (not CL, though). I don't think that you will have trouble getting into SSR, even a 2BR. It is so large, it typically has availability, even at less than 7 months out. We booked December trips 2 years running at 4 months out. Both times we got SSR. This was a 1BR 1 year and a studio the other. And yes, with animal viewing and storytellng, AKV is very relaxing. However, SSR has a great CH and the boat or pleasant walk to DTD. It could be relaxing too.

I would say to hold on to your THV reservation for a little while longer because you could probably switch to a 2BR at SSR later and be OK.

Maybe decide what is the minimum AKV-CL stay length you could accept and WL for that - maybe at both the beginning and end of your trip? If it came through at the beginning, your could relax in SSR or THV for the middle/end. Without a park next door, it is certainly doable.

Thank you for the insights. :goodvibes I agree about hanging on to the THV a little longer.

Yeah, you're right, SSR has its relaxing qualities too so maybe it would be best to bookend the AKV CL wait list. Hmm.....

The minimum CL stay would be 3 nights. I don't like moving for less than that. Unfortunately that would provide us with a triple split stay which I'm trying to avoid but it might be the only way to stay CL.

I would hold on to the THV for a while, there will be 2 BRs at SSR for quite a few months before your trip. At least find out what you can get at AKL and if there are any conceirge rooms available, I just took a look for jollies at what was available 7 months from today, and two of the four nights I selected were available.

I bet you could still get a 2 BR at SSR even in May or June for your October stay, so you have some time to wait it out for AKV CL. No worries!

:goodvibes Thanks for the reassuring words and taking a peek. It's that darn AKV thread that got me all wanting club level. Argh! I was fine before I saw the tiny bites of African deliciousness and zebra domes.

I'm going to hold on to THV. If we don't score CL I'm thinking we may do an SSR/THV/AKV split. The grill at the THV looks fantastic and we've got a tri tip night planned. :cloud9:

I have to tell you that last November, we moved three times:

Checked in to OKW for 2 nights
Checked in to the Omni for 3 nights (DH had a meeting)
Checked in to SSR for 4 nights

When we left, I told him that this year, he could go to the Omni and I would be staying at Disney, the 3 moves was a real pain, and it was just two of us, no kids involved. We wasted too much time packing up and checking in at 3 places, waiting for rooms to be ready, waiting for bellman, etc.

I don't normally have a problem changing resorts during a DVC stay, have done it many times, but 3 times was too much for me.

::yes:: I agree and would ultimately like to stay away from it. We did a triple split in 2009; OKW, AKV, POR and I swore I'd never do it again. I think it's like child birth and I forgot the pain. In a perfect world we'd get our AKV CL for 5-6 nights and then do SSR for the others. Here's hoping.

Still not sure on how to wait list. The bookend idea sounds good on paper until I realize it makes for an extra move. :surfweb:

I hope it all works out for you and you don't have to move 3 times.

:goodvibes Thanks! I'm pretty sure we won't move 3 times. DH and were chatting last night and he said he'd rather not and reminded of how not fun it was.

It changes the way I'll wait list for sure. Just need to figure that out.
