How would you design the Bed Configurations per Room in a Future DVC Resort ?

How about a king bed + sleeper sofa in a studio, instead of queen bed + sleeper sofa?

DH and I are tall people, and we have a king bed at home for this reason. We try to get accomodations with a king bed if at all possible, but if just he and I are going on a quickie trip, I'd rather not have to use points on a 1 BR, so it would be great if they had some studios with a king bed.

I have other ideas, but this is number one on that list.

Yep! This idea has got my vote!

Generally, I like the configurations. DH and I prefer a king bed & with two teen dd's, the sleeper sofa works fine for our family. I can see how that would be tough for families with kids of the opposite sex though - there is a thread about that topic over on the Community Board today.

Have you seen the sleeper chairs that make out into a twin size bed? Works the same as a sleeper sofa, just more narrow. I would think it would be great if they could use a couple of these in some of the studios and one bedroom units. That way, if you have people who don't want to share a bed, you don't have to go all the way of to a two bedroom. But that extra bathroom does sound good...

Oh I personally would HATE to have 2 queen beds in the master bedroom of a one bedroom.

I don't want the kids sleeping in the same room with us. And what a waste of having an extra bed that isn't going to be used.

And if I am bringing family, I don't want them sleeping in the same room as me either.

I like them just the way they are.

ME TOO !!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

My only request would be to make the rooms as large as OKW!! ::yes:: ::yes::

Maybe this is because they are not a queen!??!??!? :rotfl2: Just kidding. But it's so weird. My partner and I sleep on a double at home fine but not on the "queen" at WDW. I have no idea.

My vote would be for friggin' fitted sheets. I just don't get it! Someone explain this to me. I'm smiling......

I would have them dump all of the sleeper sofa's. They're just too uncomfortable. The studios should have 2 queens or an optional single king. Also, all 2 bedroom units should have 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom. I guess keeping a sleeper sofa in the living room is ok as long as I got the other beds mentioned above.

I sometimes wish I could book a 2 bedroom Condo with 2 queen beds in one bedroom, and a Queen Bed in the 2nd bedroom with stacked bunk beds.
This is our NIGHTMARE configuration. :crazy2: It would HAVE to be a seperate category.

Nope, this is why we went with BWV rather than OKW. When getting a studio (i.e. the 2nd bedroom of a 2-br. unit) we LOVE having a sofa to sit on while watching TV - and not having a second bed just taking up floor space.

Ok, we could get behind this idea. But I'd also want nightstands on both sides of the bed. :thumbsup2 Actually, I want that even if they keep the bed Queen sized. Both of us need a place to put our glasses and clocks (as we can't see to the other side of the bed).

If they tried to put a king-sized bed in the studio, they'd have to take out all the other furniture besides the sleeper sofa (removing the arms of the sofa) to get that king in the room. Right now with the queen up against the wall (only a little room to get into the bed on that side), there wouldn't be any room to get that bigger bed in.

SMALLER BATHROOMS???!! :scared1: The person who mentioned that must have been a man! :rolleyes2

Uh no I'm not a man...not even a manly woman. The size of the space with the hot tub just seems excessive and could be reduced/redesigned so that a small sofa bed could replace the chair in the master bedroom.

We checked out a timeshare at Angel Fire Resort - a ski resort in NM. The 1 bedrooms could sleep 6, and were the same basic size as a DVC unit. The MB had a king bed, the jacuzzi, etc, the libing room had a pullout couch (queen size), and a murphy bed (also queen size). This not only would be great for 6 people, but my two DS's had a bed each when it was just the 4 of us. It would also make life easier for people with more children, or famiolies with 1 boy and 1 girl.
Many people here like to spread out more - but for us - we'd love to be able to get just a 1 bedroom when my DH's parents come with us. It would save so many points that we could vacation with them longer!

My ideal studio would be King + bunks. Much more suitable for families like mine (DS & DD). But, since we only represent a small fraction of the DVC market, I totally understand why it's not a practical room arrangement. So, I guess it's 2BRs for us. Darn. :teeth: :rolleyes1

Same here.....and we much prefer the 2br's that give us 2 "real" beds in the second bedroom. Noone ever wants to sleep in the pull-outs. I understand people say it gives them more floor space, but that's not worth the arguing I have to hear between my kids over who sleeps on the pull-out and who gets the bed !

I guess we're lucky. The current 1 bedroom configuration fits our family just perfect. Of course, we only have one child and he's boy and doesn't care where he sleeps.

This is good. I think issues arise when you have 2 or more children (different sexes) as well as when they get older. It's easy when they're little ....once they hit pre-teen and teen I feel is when all the drama comes in to play.

We're talking FUTURE resort here. Disney can NOT change the configuration of current resorts - what they sold us is here to stay.

I think at OKW they should take out the king bed and put 3 twin beds in its place, then in the living room take out all the furniture and put 7 more twin beds in there. That way we could have 10 beds in the one bedroom unit. That should make everyone happy that wants to turn OKW into a flop house. Perhaps a portable toilet can be installed where the stove was also. That would be really great. It would make for a really class place. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
