How would I do this?

Our family will be in WDW in June and have a ADR for Sci-Fi. When I made the ADR it was just for our family of 3. Now some extended family will be joining us with a party of 7. I do not want to cancel our Sci-Fi ADR for 3 but was trying to make an ADR for 7 for the rest of the people in my family and friends list. It won't let me make another one close to the ADR already made. Why will it not let me make an ADR for the rest of my list?

I think you aren't being allowed to make another ADR because you already have an ADR within a certain amount of time.. Could you ask one of the other seven folks to try a make the ADR for themselves?

I had to begin with first looking for openings for our now new party of 9, once I found one, I had to go and delete my reservation for party of 7, then book a reservation for party of 9. It gives you the option to change your party, but not the number in your party.

Two separate steps or all in one? The system used (it's been a while since I had to deal with it) used to ask if you wanted to delete the existing reservation and make the new one all in one process.

When I try to make that reservation, it asks if I want to cancel the ADR I already have for that time or keep the one I already have. When I pick keep, then it will not let me go through the reservation for 7. I do not want a ADR for a party of 10. I want 2 ADRs at around the same time. One for a party of 3 and one for a party of 7. All people are listed under my friends and family and I can make plans for them all.

The system thinks you are trying to double book 2 reservations around the same time and won't let you which is why it is asking you to choose which res you want to keep. If you're within 180 days of check-in you'll have get out of your account and make the reservation under the name and phone number of one of the 7 people in the group or have someone in the group make their own reservation.

While I avoid phoning Disney (dining and resort reservations) with all my might - it just takes sooooo long - this is the type of situation where it does work much better to phone. It was very easy when I talked with someone on the phone to make a change to an ADR that couldn't be done online.

I always do the "phone thing" They have a better vision of all ressies and will be able to make the change more smoothly. Some things are just worth the wait , and , I have not ever waited very long. They are very efficient and get it done quickly because they need to move on to the next guest. Good luck
