How will Disney handle BOG reservations after the Prix Fixe change?

Be Elsa, let it go

She is a right fighter and appears to care about nothing but herself

Do come back in November and let us know how it goes

I doubt if they will charge them a no show fee, but we will see. I can see how frustrating her attitude is. Are you sure she is friend material?

What will happen is guests will get their menu. See it is prix fixed and have a decision to make. Stay and eat at a signature meal w set price or get up and leave

At some point, there will be disappointed or mad guests. They will still have 2 choices
Yep you are right. But what stinks about that scenario is, 1. guests who truly wanted to dine there couldn't get in & 2. Poor CMs who have to deal with this and then lose out on tips from an empty table because they left.

I also agree that Disney should email all guests with existing reservations after the change, but I doubt it will happen.

I expect the CM at the check in window will take the most grief. I suspect they will the ones to tell them about the Pre-Fixe meal and that is where the complaints will be. I also suspect there will be a lot who check in and then cancel and leave. This may make walk up a little more available.
It will be ugly for a while until people get used to the new menu and procedure.
Will probably make getting lunch more difficult as many will move from evening to lunch, even if you can't see the beast then.

LOL, right! I've let it go. Honestly, she doesn't realize how difficult it is to get that reservation. She doesn't see how she is taking away from someone else. I'm hoping she will see after July 27th that I was right and will cancel it, but I'm done

Yes, I agree. When I pulled up the main dining page it stated, "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Dining", and then had CP, BOG and CRT listed with times and then it stated you needed a ticket in the fine print, so, I guess they made it fairly clear, but you really need to read those terms and conditions. I just searched the same date again (8/28) and it still states it's a 1 TS meal . . . . I'd be right angry if I had the DDP and booked this right now only to find they would charge me 2 TS at the restaurant.

And I never went to the "main dining page" and nothing came up stating MNSSHP dining, only all the restaurants and times available for dinner that day. Priceless.

She's read on forums about "all you need to order is a cupcake to meet the Beast". She's like, well if they make me order prix fixe, then we just won't go. I've tried to explain to her that 1. she will likely get charged $10/pp for cancelling late and 2. she is taking the spot from someone who truly wants the reservation. She doesn't care. I've given up because it makes me angry. We are ones who love Be Our Guest and it took us 5 trips and 14 months to be able to get a reservation for dinner.

You have done all you can do .... now just sit back and enjoy the I told you so. Quietly from within of course, but she'll know that you know.

On the positive for other guests, as soon as this starts blowing up the end of July she'll read that all over the forums and have plenty of time to change her reservation .... even if nothing is said .... she'll know you know. :rotfl:

I just did an experiment to see if I could find BOG dinner availability on a MNSSHP night and to see what type of disclaimers, terms and conditions I would find. When I did the search, it was very clear I was making an ADR during a party and would need a party ticket to eat, however, when reading through the terms and conditions, it stated, if applicable, this was a 1 TS meal!!! This was an ADR for 8/28! WDW really needs to get their website together.
The reservation I made for October on 5/24 shows 1 Entitlement as well.

Ha Disney IT is so hilariously bad! We won't be using DDP anyways, but still a major screw up. I'm waiting to see early reviews of the prix fixe and unless it's true signature level, we'll be canceling. Our last meal at BOG in April wasn't that great.

Dinner was a thumbs down for us, just seemed like lunch but more expensive. I do think the OOP cost isn't bad for three courses IF the food is good but I for sure would not burn 2 credits there.

I was well aware of the change, but mostly because of this site. I just made in ADR for December 4th and it says 2 TS in the confirmation, but I'll be paying OOP so I never really notice that to be honest.

I actually booked dinner because of the menu change XD I'm kind of excited for something new, I had dinner there once before and it was just OK, I probably wouldn't have made it a priority to book again if it wasn't for the new options.

How much is the new fixed price dinner? I know it’s two entitlements on the dining plan, but how much is it out-of-pocket total?

I wouldn't argue with her. You told her about the new menu.
She thinks she's entitled to make her own rules and probably hasn't bothered to read the agreement we all click as having read (even if we didn't:D) and thus is entitled to her own "magical" moment.

This. Unless you are tipping an amount commensurate to a full meal on the cupcakes, you are effectively doing the equivalent of eating a full meal and stiffing the server. A signature restaurant (which is what BOG) is not a casual eatery, and they will give there servers very few tables to ensure that the service level is excellent for each guest.

But more to the point, as others have said, there is simply no way for her to do this. If she showed up at a character buffet like Crystal Palace or 1900 Park Fare and said "I'll just take a single cupcake from the buffet; don't charge me the full meal" she would be charged the full meal. The posted prix-fixe price is your "entry ticket" to the restaurant; it doesn't matter how much or how little you want to eat.

I think even if they sent out an email, sometimes people don't read them or they go to spam and they are not going to be able to say "sorry, we sent out an email!" so the front line CMs are going to have to deal.

Hopefully they put a procedure in place where they can waive the cancellation fee right then and there for anyone who chooses to not dine there after being informed of the new policy. They're just going to have to do that for a while in the interest of good customer service, regardless of how people feel about how proactive people should be about knowing about this change. There will always be someone who isn't following along on boards/has email go to spam etcetc, they are just going to have to eat these reservations until it stops happening.
