How wide are the magic bands?

Wondering how wide the magic bands are. I'm making covers for our magic bands so I need to know. Also, do they need to have a spot open for the mickey head or can there be material over the entire band?

One inch at its widest.

You don't *need* an opening, but I've noticed the Coverbands sold at Disney now do have an opening. (poor seamstresses, having to go into the ones already made and make little square holes...)

I thought this tutorial had the dimensions in it, but maybe just knowing the fabric amounts they used will help you. I would measure, but we left all our MBs in our Owners Locker.

I made some covers using that tutorial earlier today. The covers I made are just over an inch wide. I'm hoping they are wide enough. We don't get our bands until March, so I can't check right now.
