I can't figure out how to set my avatar!

You can't get an avatar (or set your signature, or do conversations -PMs) until you have 10 posts.
Head on over to the TEST BOARD and just post a bunch of posts there.

once you have 10 posts, how do you set your avatar? (technologically challenged!)

First, once you've reached that 10 post milestone, it take a little time for the system to recognize it. Usually around 30-45 minutes.

Then, hover over your username in the upper right of the page and click on "Avatar". You can download (from your computer) your avatar there.
