i've never been on it

we're going in december so we probably won't want to be soaked (hence no kali river rapids) but our kids are dying to go on splash mtn. if you sit in the back do you get less wet? if we wear ponchos can we stay pretty dry?

i don't mind being a little wet, just not change your clothes wet. :umbrella:

I think its less wet in the back.. but you will get wet. Sometimes my hair has gotten drenched and my clothes have been pretty wet. Not Kali Rapids wet. It also depends on if you get shot with the water they spay, or if you get stuck next to the water fall at the end. Wear a poncho and you will stay dry. Just sit on the plastic too.. the seats are always wet in those logs!

We rode 4 times in April - first row, my DD6 and I were drenched - literally had to wring our clothes out. 2nd row and back - never a problem, only a few drops.

I saw others in the front row come away with very little wet clothing, so I'm not sure if we just got lucky (because it was warm so this was refreshing and we were dry in less than 30 minutes).

I found the front seat always looked wet before we got in an empty log.

We've never gotten soaked. My mom likes to wear her poncho on it. If the kids want to get wet and you don't, consider doing that. :)

Everytime I ride it I ask for one of the back rows. I usually only get a little wet. I once rode it in the front and my butt was so wet, I will never do that again haha. But usually in the winter they turn down the pressure on the water so that you don't get as wet. But if you feel better wearing a poncho then I would get one.

I think the front rows get the wettest. The CM's may try to talk you out of the back rows saying it doesn't matter but *don't listen!*. You may still get a little splashed, but ponchos should take care of it.

Splash Mountain is a classic disney ride and one my children's favorites. They will ride it over and over and sing the song all day. I'd hate for you to miss it. (They are not so enthusiastic about Kali River Rapids)

Just got back from there and I rode it 5 times. 2nd, 3rd and 4th row will only get you sprinkled. Front row gets you wet and potentially soaked.

The back row idea only works if there are kids in the front rows and adults in the back row. If there are a bunch of kids in front of me I specifically ask for the back row. It has worked everytime except the last. I have gotten off Splash Mountain absolutely soaked and other times only a few drops got me. It just all depends on how the weight is distributed through the log.

If you would rather not get wet, wear a poncho. I did this on Kali River Rapids and I stayed very dry. (I also didn't let me feet go anywhere near the floor.) I have yet to try the poncho on Splash Mountain but maybe I secretly like getting drenched.

I always wear a poncho on SM...I hate having fisherman's a$$....that's when your rear end gets wet from sitting in water. Even if you don't get wet, the poncho protects your clothes from the seat which can get pretty wet and dirty.

We were there just after Wilma, and the temps were very cool. We sat in the back, and just barely got sprinkled. The water spray at the end was not turned on, and we thought that that might be because of the cool temps. Maybe it'll be the same in Dec.

In all honesty, I think it depends on how much weight is in the front row. When we put our kids in the front, none of us get that wet. When the DW and I ride up front, we get wet--not soaked, just wet.

It's worth it, though. It's an incredibly themed ride.

In cooler weather, the sprayers are turned down. Also, the back usually works but sometimes you will get stuck right next to the drop and a log will come down and drench you. And I think you get less wet if you sit on the left.
