Never rode it but want to know if you get the worst of it how wet do you get?? Like COMPLETELY drenched or just semi-wet?? Splash Mountain wet or worse? Thanks!

If you get the worst of it -- completely drenched. I'll never forget the look on my daughter's face when that rush of water came up and over right on top of her. It was as if she had jumped out of the raft into the water. We had to immediately go into a shop and buy her something new to wear, as it just wasn't in our timeline to go back to the hotel and change clothes. It's really the luck of the draw. One person can get soaked, while others may only get slightly wet.

Imagine you're standing in a nice calm ocean, and a 6ft wave comes at you.

You could get the brunt of the wave, or you could just get the little splash at the end. All depends on how lucky you're feeling. ;)

The last time we rode it, my son and I were the ones that got really wet. Our shorts were soaked. The rest of the boat hardly got anything at all. Another time, my kids went on 3 times and never really got wet at all. I guess it just depends on how the raft turns and where you're sitting. It's totally fun, and one of our favorite rides.

it depends how the raft is when you go down the hill.. if u are in the back (first side to hit the bottom of the ramp) then ur SOAKED... but its still my favorite ride!

Oh no, I was hoping for a different answer!! I really wanted to try it but knowing my luck i would get drenched. I don't think I want to risk it...maybe if it was in the summer but we are going in Nov/Dec.

Favorite ride in ALL of Disney World?? Geez I guess I need to go on it. I do love thrill rides I just hope I am not the one to get soaked!

Bring along a disposable poncho from the dollar store--spares you the drenching and then you can just toss it post-ride. You can enjoy the ride worry-free!

I love water rides in general.. im not much of a thrill ride person though.. its just relaxing in some parts.. i love the top up by the fire where u can see mount everest

Great idea-- I will have to do that!! My goal this trip is to try things I have never tried before and I think this will have to be one of them.

I have to say I always laugh when I see the people on a water ride with a pancho. I figure if you ride it you assume you are going to get wet.

I love Kali River Rapids and just go to the park dressed in something I don't mind getting wet in. That said, I normally won't ride it on a cold day. Although I think they must turn it down some in the winter. When we were there in January my sister rode it with her son a couple of times while I watched her baby. No one seemed to be getting very wet that day.

Another vote for the poncho. I was like one of those that used to laugh when people had ponchos, but really, walking around in wet underwear for hours just stinks. I decided I'd rather be laughed at! When we rode a few weeks ago, my mom, DS and I were the only ones on our raft with ponchos, and our raft mates were a bit "really? ponchos???" at the start, then they kept saying they were jealous as they were ringing out their shirts as they were getting out;)

I went on it a few weeks ago. My boyfriend laughed as I put my poncho on ... but he was not laughing when we got off and he had gotten soaked. :)

I would rather look silly, and be comfortable for the rest of the day, then be soaked.

Nothing about walking around a park all day in wet socks is fun.

PROUD PONCHO WEARER!! :)

Rode it twice on one trip...

First time....dry:cool1:

Second time.....hit just right and ended up soaked!:scared1:

I love the ride, but wear a PONCHO!

Same experience as everyone else. Last time my DS rode it 3 times and never really got wet and I got wet every time. My DM rode it 5 times, she loved it, and she got really wet.

Then there was almost 2 years ago, when I almost lost my glasses from the force of the water, so of course that time I was soaked. Not even an inch of my clothing dry.

But it's a fun ride. And of course there are ponchos. There are also lockers in the park where you can stash an extra change of clothes for after the ride. I say go for it. Last trip we planned it close to when we were about to go back to the room anyway. So we weren't in wet clothes for very long.

Our boys, 7 & 10, rode it near park closing... they were soaked! We had to rush around and buy them some clothes as we were on our way to our dinner reservations at Boma. We were able to find and buy shirts and shorts, but...

Let's just say, we still laugh about the time they ate dinner at Boma without wearing underwear.

Like everyone else said - it all depends on where you're sitting when that raft hits the bottom of the drop!

Personally, I would never do the poncho thing. (That's just me.)

I always dress in quick-dry materials on the day or days I know I'm going to do Kali.

I usually go with a quick dry tennis or running skirt. (With the built in biker shorts underneath - all of which are also quick drying fabric.) Then I usually wear a tank top with a quick-dry synthetic sports bra. (Gee, how many times can I say "quick-dry" in one paragraph?!)

And I wear flip-flops.

I always go in the warmer months, though, so I've never had to decide whether to go on or not in cool weather.

My advice would be to bring a change of clothes whether you plan to use a poncho or not, since wet feet, wet lower half of jeans, etc is still not fun. When I go in the cooler months, I'll try to go first thing (I like to go a couple times, since if you're already wet..) and then change into dry clothes and stash the wet ones in a locker until the end of the day. If by some miracle you remain bone dry, then you just lucked out.

I agree with some of the above posters, it's my favorite ride at AK! I'm loath to miss it no matter the weather!
