How Wet Am I Going To Get?

Thanks everyone for your insightful advice and sharing with me your strategies!

I will have my daughter put on her swim wear and quick-dry shorts, and bring along a change of clothes and towels. For myself, I will put on rain pants just for the water rides and use poncho to protect my top (making sure I will close all possible openings). I have a waterproof waist pouch for water activites. I will put all electronics and delicate items in that for water protection, and a trash bag for my backpack. We both wear Tevra sandals so our feet will be fine.

I planned to finish IoA then have lunch at Mythos before visiting US in the late afternoon. After all the "horror" yet fun stories of getting drenched, I will have to change my plan to having lunch before going on the water rides then heading to US.

If my weight loss plan goes well as expected before the trip, I wouldn't mind walking around in swim wear though! Otherwise ... , I will stick with my poncho!

Thanks again!

After reading all this, made a family trip to Eddie Bauer to get quick dry walking shorts. What a great place this is...how awful walking around in wet jeans all day would have been :thumbsup2

We went in late Sept and there were NO lines. We finished the ride and there were only a couple of people in lines so we asked if we could just stay put and go again and they let us. It's a bit random on who gets *really* wet but by the 2nd time we were all covered. When we came back around, there was still no line! They let us and the folks in the boat stay for yet another ride. SO much fun. It was even funnier to see the looks on peoples faces that were getting in the boat after us - they couldn't believe how wet we were but didn't know we had gone 3 times in a row. We were drenched. I had planned this to be our last ride so we walked back to the car to towels :)

Oh, love watching the other people too, especially the ones that never rode it before. The first time I took the boys, I'd done my reasearch and bought my sons swim shorts, tankers and flip flops for the park. My then, (I think around 13/14) son, refused to wear the swim shorts and insisted on just wearing jeans. I decided to pick my battles and let him do what he wanted. He was so miserable after the ride....I was really proud of myself for not saying "I told you so" while he suffered for the next couple of hours. The next day when we went to the park, he dug out his swim shorts!

How wet you will get (use this as reference)

Jurassic Park: wet, possibly soaked, top half of your body. You never know how wet you'll get. You usually get more wet in the front and less in the back. It depends on the weight distribution.

Ripsaw Falls: completely soaked. Weight distribution has minimal effect here. Back heavy logs get less soaked, but the difference is negligible. The 25-cent water cannons after the drop are the wettest part of the ride. Also, taller people should sit in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th seats. The trick is to SLIDE into the seats.

Popeye & Blutos: completely soaked. This ride is just brutal. Abandon all hope of staying dry. Only pure luck will get you get not-too-soaked.

One Fish Two Fish: wet, possibly soaked. It all depends on how well you fly your fish. Follow the rhyme and you should be okay for *most* of the ride.

Jaws: wet, but not too much.

I forward this post and thread to my DH who was insisting that he was going to wear his jean shorts. I am happy to say I now have to go shopping to buy him some fast drying shorts.

LOL, dont you lve it when other people make the point for you? :goodvibes You won't regret it.

Haven't been to the water rides at Universal but when we go we wear fast drying clothes and I always put my camera and phone in a zipper baggie and have never had a problem.

Don't forget to wear fast drying shoes as my daughters learned the hard way with converse as they stretch when they are wet and they both got blisters.

Oh man! I am glad I read this. I was planning to visit on our last day and then head to the airport (we have a very late flight). This means doing some extra planning so we have dry clothes to wear and bags to put the wet stuff in so our suitcase isn't dripping! Of course for me the issue isn't so much clothes as it is that I have curly, frizzy hair that looks OH so nice after water rides in Florida humidity.
