We are thinking of going down for this week in 06? Wondering how the crowds were and how long ride lines were.

Thanks for the info.

I wasn't there, but my Best Friend lives 3 minutes from the front gates and she said there was NOBODY there. For instance, you usually need a PS to get a table for a restaurant...or you will wait at least 1/2 hour to an hour for a table without PS...she said she and her husband just walked right in and were seated immediately (no PS) She said it was heaven!!!

I was there that week; most of the machines for Fast Pass were covered; you didn't need to use it. We used Fast Pass for Safari at AK--which was mobbed for some reason; most popular rides were 15 min. wait. We also did EMH on Wed. night for Magic Kingdom--which was a blast. Some rides we never bothered getting out of--we just kept riding. Some restaurants were walk ins, but places like Sci-Fi, and Ohana's were waitlisted. There were many foreign visiters there so the park attendance was fair. We did Fantasmic on Saturday and the theatre did fill up.

We were recently there during that time! My family's favorite time to go there is Janurary or February. Lines are very short and rates are cheapest during that time if you are staying on the property. You will have to deal with some rides being shut down for refurbishment this time of year and you may need to put on a sweatshirt on cool days, but we feel it is worth it! Have a magical time!! :mickeybar

We just got back from our trip that week, and the crowds were minimal. On the tuesday, Test Track did have a 45 minute wait during the middle of the day, and on the Friday, Thunder Mt. and Peter Pan both had 40-min. waits in the middle of the day, but that was it. We had a ball!!

Just got back, and the crowds were light all week, until Friday at MK. Combination of EMH in the morning, and maybe the dance competition this weekend, but MK was quite crowded by mid-afternoon. Other than that, things were great all week.

We were just there (Jan. 28 - Jan. 31) for a quick trip. The crowds weren't too bad at all! It was definitely a nice time to be there! :sunny:

I was there 1/19-1/26 and it was empty the only busy day was Sat 1/22 at MK!

Hi,

We were in WDW from Jan 22nd through the 28th of this year and it was great. This was our third time going down during the winter value season and the crowds are very low. The parks are not open that late but it does not matter as you are able to do everything in a shorter amount of time.

Thanks again to everyone for the info. I was down there in Jan. 04 closer to the beginning of the month and it sounds like the crowds, etc. are about the same at the end of January.

We were there 1/21-1/31/05 & were a little disappointed with the crowds. We felt it was much busier than Jan 2000 and our trip in Sept 2004. It seemed like there were many tour groups there - not sure if we had really bad luck & just hit everything at the wrong time, but we saw quite a few long waits for rides. We saw 60 minute waits for Test Track on 3 different days - got a fast pass each day instead. 45 minutes for Thunder Mountain - 2 different days, 35 minutes for Space Mountain - 2 different days. Stitch's new ride was hardly ever less than 30 minutes when we were there - the line wrapped around the building - never seen it like that before. Frequent waits of 40 minutes for Jungle Cruise & long lines at Pirates & the Haunted Mansion. To many peak-time visitors this may not sound bad - but, these definitely aren't the wait times we were used to.

Not sure if we just had bad luck, or if more people are going in Jan to escape the cold & enjoy the low crowds. Between the lines & poor weather, we aren't planning a return trip in Jan anytime soon.
