our oldest two have been twice-Jan 2000 and 2004. Youngest went the second time. They talked about it for a long time. Though not cheap, it was a major hit both times.
Any experience with older boys going on this? My nephew will be almost 11 during his next trip. We think he would love it, but will he feel out of place, too old? Thanks for any advice!

My 10 year old daughter went on it in May and she loved it. She was one of the older kids but after they got started and into the hunt she had a blast and age didn't seem to matter. In fact being older allowed her to be more of a helper and guide and do more of the things the little kids couldn't do. I was also concerned because she was one of a very few girls but again this didn't matter to her once they got started.
What about 5 year old twins? I understand that parents are not allowed on the boat...true? Any experience with children either balking about not having mom and dad close by or any safety concerns? I'm not comfortable having them unsupervised, it's a crazy world, but have twins who are pirate happy...

Parents aren't allowed and no exceptions are made. If you feel like your children won't want to go without you at their side, I wouldn't book it, since your card is charged 24 hours prior to the cruise.
Also, they are supervised by 2-3 CM's on the boat.
