Pretty much the same? Way over the top? I understand that the show is being rerun tonight.

I don't have my satellite radio yet. Should be arrive in a few days. My DH said he it was great as usual. Same show. I heard them on Thurs I think it was when I was with DH. They were doing a test run. All were in studio Robin, Howard, Artie, Gary, Fred, etc. It was great. I missed them all.
3.5million listeners and growing every day. :teeth:

I listened and loved it. Especially when they played the song parodies with the clips of the Pat O'Brien tape inserted. DH and I were rolling on the floor.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

What time do they rerun the show at night? DH was hoping to catch it. I heard some of it on the way to work this morning and I agree it sounds like the same show. I think that is a good thing since that's why we got satellite in the 1st place.

Howard scolds everyone when they use the F-Bomb although he said it a couple of times. I think they want to keep it the same or it will lose its "charm".

Just tonight, I think. 9PM eastern.

so is he married or not (said on larry king he would disclose during first broadcast)? also, he said something about he and key staff members eaching makeing public something they had never disclosed publicly (or to anyone else before). what was disclosed?

So, did he get his own station? If not, what station is he on? I don't have sirrius, but have seriously considered it. I couldn't decide whether to get it or XM. I was leaning more toward Sirrius though, just for Howard. I really miss listening to him on my morning commute. I'm stuck with Bob and Tom now. They are ok, but I just can't stand the constant laughing about EVERYTHING!

If there's a four-letter word or outrageous sex act that didn't get mentioned on Howard Stern's new satellite radio show, it wasn't for lack of trying.

Words that once were bleeped on Stern's terrestrial radio program, previously broadcast in Chicago on WCKG 105.9 FM, flowed uninterrupted on Howard 100, the Sirius satellite frequency that's airing Stern's reincarnated show.

And though it's true that the triple-X rated comedy bits and salty on-air patter didn't wholly define the program, the show unquestionably plunged more deeply than ever into material that many listeners would consider obscene.

On purely comedic terms, however, the satellite debut proved surprisingly flat, the program unfolding more as a promotion of Stern's latest than venture than as a bonafide radio show. After opening with several minutes of technical difficulties – including microphones that produced piercing feedback – Stern and his longtime cast clearly struggled to find something interesting to discuss. The initial repartee sounded spare, slow and stumbling, a palpable letdown that even Stern seemed to acknowledge.

"I hyped this thing so much, it could never, ever live up to anyone's expectations," said Stern, who at his best has proven capable of brilliant satire and shrewd political commentary.

Before long, he was playing unedited excerpts of the salacious voice mail messages that TV personality Pat O'Brien infamously left on a woman's voice mail last year, causing a mini-scandal; aired ribald prank phone calls; and played a bit in which an impersonator of Dave Letterman -- dubbed Evil Dave – described a series of sex fantasies in remarkable detail.

Neither the patter of the show's new announcer, George Takei (who was Mr. Sulu on the original "Star Trek"), nor Stern's fake announcement that he had gotten married (quickly retracted) offered much more than a chuckle.

Yet this was just Day One of the program, and Stern will have plenty of time in which to find his voice in a new setting.

Judging by the opening installment, he'll need it.

He has 2 stations actually. Howard 100 & 101. I don't think the program schedule is set in stone yet but on the Sirius site they have a list of shows that will be on both stations. The East coast feed of the regular Howard show is on 100 and the west coast one is on 101.

It was typical (recent) Howard, nothing fancy or over the top yet. They are still getting used to the studio.

Guess who is the new spokesperson? George Takei (aka Sulu from Star Trek).
He is a new addition and I was not expecting him there.

No Howard is not married although he did fool us and say he was....and then watch people reactions and then said he lied. He had people going.

The thing that I hate is that Central Time starts at 5am and no way I am awake then. Plus I can't listen with the kids, so I have to wait until 8:30am -10:00am to listen. Which is enough....

Those of us without Sirius can still keep up at the howardstern.com website. The guy is continuing to do the daily recap.

I love the updates they give you onscreen..."JD pops his cherry" and the posts from sternfannetwork.com

Also..Love George Takai...he answered so many questions and floored me...

I admit it, I stayed home yesterday to listen to his first broadcast. I LOVED the uncensored Pat O'Brien tapes and the songs made from those tapes. What a wacko (also a good reminder to not leave drunken voice mails!). George Takei was wonderful, I wish he would be there everyday. I love his sense of humor and I love the things he knows about. It was great to hear all of them again.

DH posses the receiver and cradle. I am waiting for the S50 to become totally portable before I buy a receiver, but I am thinking of buying a cheap receiver to keep at work until they get the Internet streaming issues worked out.

On a side note, I was totally creeped out by Bubba the Love Sponge on Howard. :scared1: We decided to go ahead and listen to a bit of his show that afternoon, and weren't really impressed. Eh to each his own.

I wonder what the deal is with the fully portable S50, some people say that it will just be an attachment for the current one, others think it may be a new one. I went ahead and bought one for my BF. He set it to record the show and it works great. The only problem with it though is if you stop it, it doesn't bookmark. Hopefully that will be fixed in an upcoming firmware. That would happen on my old ipod with audio books and it was not fun.

Yeah there is conflicting info on Sirius Backstage, so I figured it would just be better to wait. I also usually wait for at least 6 months after such a new product comes out to allow them to work out most of the bugs.
