How unlikely is a cancellation?

We are renting points and were planning on staying at the BWV which then became unavailable at the last second. Wondering if we should wait a few weeks to see if something becomes available due to a cancellation or if that is highly unlikely and we should just move forward with reservations somewhere else? Dates are March 28-31.

Why did you wait until 3 months out? With DVC it's best to book 7-11 months out. You should most definitely take what's available as it is last minute in DVC standards. And pretty soon there may be nothing available.

I booked about 6 weeks out and got SSR (was hoping for AKL, I knew our options were going to be limited) and was kind of disappointed because SSR doesn't seem to be well liked, BUT was excited because hey, it's Disney. Let me tell you, we LOVED SSR! It was amazing, and calm and just what we needed. I would totally book there again. So sometimes what you get turns out to be just perfect.

Plus, it's Disney, you can't go wrong :)

We have a 2 month old DS so weren't sure if we were going to go this year or not but he's a super easy baby and DD is so princess obsessed right now we decided to go after all. I was thrilled & surprised when BWV outer first choice was available and then when we started proceeding with the reservation process it became unavailable less than 24 hours later. Guess we need to just pick something and book it so that doesn't happen again!

So glad to hear this, that's what I'm hoping. BWV theme doesn't really appeal to me at all we just love the location so maybe we will end up liking SSR better anyway. I'm hoping having Disney Springs within walking distance will be similar to being on the boardwalk and my dad is coming along with us but not going into the parks so thinking he can just drop us off/pick us up from the parks which will make hotel location way less important.

If someone were to cancel, it would go to someone with a waitlist in on those dates/resort. So unless you were working with an owner who would waitlist for you, and were very fortunate on the waitlist (since it's late in the game to waitlist), the odds are very poor.

Your dad may like the boat for Disney Springs as well!
