How tro get a great room when arriving late?

Our flight doesn't come in until 11pm on Fri night. We will be checking in at POr and do ahve our request attached to the ressie (AB 14, 1st floor). I hear so often that a key to getting your request honored is arriving early, and it did happen to us at WL last spring; really yucky room not even close to our request (they moved us the next am, pain when you're anxious for parks and have to repack 5 people). I'm concerned that I will get tapped for this room only to have it given to someone arriving earlier and asking for it. Do you think it would be helpful to call early in the day and let them know we'll be late? Would they tell me what room we're down for? Anything else we could do?

I'll be watching this thread as we will be eating Thanksgiving lunch here in NC and then heading down, so it will be around 10 pm before we check into our AKL room this year. I've made pretty specific requests, but with the $$$ we are putting down for the AKL experience, I want to make sure I get what I want.

Ok, I know I can't be guaranteed of my requests, but I really, really, really want a specific area...

We arrived POR May 27th around 5:30pm and I too had requested the same as you.

We didn't even get close.

We had bldg 26. ugh!!

To make things worse, I got sick before we left so I really wanted a closer bldg.

I think it helps to have your late arrival noted on your reservation.

I was scared of the same thing.

I don't know if this is an option for you, but we are arriving around 11pm at the airport. What I decided was to just stay at a hotel there, and then get up early to go to the CR to check in. It saved about $300!

if the resort is at high occupancy and you are the 'last' to arrive, yo uwill prob have last pick for your room. We are DVC members and have had not great veiws too many times. Now we will take an early morning flight instead. Tired of having to move the next day to a better room or resort. Just MHO

Call the hotel directly 2-3 days before you arrive. Ask them to "lock" you into a room. Always works for me when I have specific requests.

We come in from California and frequently arrive late. Each time we've checked in late at night, we have received horrible rooms. One time I had to sleep on the patio of a smoking room. Now we stay overnight at the airport Hyatt and head over in the morning. The rooms are never ready when we get there, but we check our luggage and head out to the parks. I've never have a problem with our room requests with a morning check in.

We are doing the same thing. We'll be arriving late on Saturday, October 1, and will stay in a local hotel (free with my Priority Club points!) and then check into AS Music early on October 2. We really need connecting rooms and I want to make sure that we get them

I guess we were lucky on our last trip then. We arrived VERY late due to weather delays and didn't walk into our AKL room until 4:55am. We ended up with a great room. 4th floor, not a long walk to the lobby and a good savanah view.

Hoping for good luck again next month. We won't arrive until 11:30p at POR and hope to be close to the main bldg.
