How to verify non-member reservation?

From what I've read on the boards, it seems that DVC Member services stopped taking calls back in August from non-members to verify their reservation. Is this still in effect? And is the only option to verify the reservation with a 3-way call?

Thanks,
Carolyn

Member Services will not talk to anyone but the member now. You can get a copy of the reservation from the member and that might be as good as you can get. An unscrupulous member could make that three way call with you (at your request so you get to pay for it) and call back and change the name on the reservation.

If you are unsure of yourself with the renting process, you might want to stick to reservations through CRO.

They can also send you a copy of the confirmation. But, once again, that doesn't stop them from calling and cancelling the reservation. And no way for you to know you've been bilked until three days before the vacation when the resort will be able to confirm for you.

Scamming is really rare. Rent from someone with references here and a history of good transactions. Someone who posts on the "social" boards as well as the rent/trade board. But, if you aren't comfortable with the level or trust required or feel this will cause a lot of stress (I, personally, don't need that much stress invovled in planning a vacation - but I get stressed about this sort of thing), rent through CRO - or, dare I say it, book offsite.

Is that three days before the vacation a set #? And I call the resort directly at that point, right?

Thanks to both of you.

I don't think so, and I wouldn't count on it if it is. Disney changes process and policy continually. Current reservations get fed to the resort "a few days" before arrival, but with no room assigner anymore they could change that to day of or day before between now and your travel date.
