How to travel with Mears

Me and a friend are going to be staying in disney this summer at Pop Century which we cannot wait to do! We also are completely ecstatic to take a day trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter while we stay there. We have looked into taking the Mears shuttle to the Islands of Adventure for the one day. Does anyone know the rundown on how to book a trip on the Mears shuttle? I see on the site it can be done, but I am wondering because it's just a group of two that we would have to take a cab instead, but I dont know!

all you need to do is contact Mears a few days in advance of the day you want to go and make a reservation. They will then give you the times that they pick up at your resort and you pick one of the times.
When you are getting ready to leave the park, you call to make arrangements to be picked up.
This is a shuttle that will stop at other resorts, but we preferred this rather than taking the chance of taking a cab and getting stuck in traffic etc and incur a higher price tag than we expected.
When we have a larger group we rented a car for the day, from the Car Care Center. It was cheaper than using Mears and we were able to come and go as we pleased.

How early in advance can we book the shuttle? and is mears a 24 hr service because we want to arrive early?

Call Operator from your room phone at least one day before you want to go to IOA. Ask to be connected to Mears. Make arrangements. Ask for the EARLIEST POSSIBLE pickup, because it's likely your shuttle or bus will stop at other hotels as well. Be prepared to pay cash when picked up - I think it's $19 per person round trip? You'll be given a voucher for the return trip, and the opportunity to make return arrangements then, or to call a number two hours before you're ready to head back.

If you would like to purchase the Mears vouchers with a credit card, drop by any Mears desk at MCO before boarding Magical Express and purchase your transfers.

You still have to call the day before to make the actual shuttle reservations, but will have the transportation vouchers in hand.

It is a ticket for the shuttle ride. You can purchase in advance with credit card or travelers checks at MCO in the airport. If you don't purchase in advance, you must pay the driver CASH only.
