How to transport broncho-saline (aerosol)?

I need to transport broncho-saline for my DS nebulizer treatments. This is an aerosol product with salt water under pressure. Will it be okay in the checked suitcase? I don't know if the luggage hold is pressurized on an airplane. Could this explode in my suitcase?

I've wondered the same about aerosol hairspray - but I'm sure there would be planes falling out the skies everywhere if that was a real concern. Do they always pressurize the cargo?

According to this info from the FAA's web site: http://asi.faa.gov/these.asp you can carry limited amounts of aerosol products:

"Hazardous materials are prohibited in checked or carry-on baggage.

There are certain exceptions for personal care, medical needs, sporting equipment, and items to support physically challenged passengers. For example:

Personal care items containing hazardous materials (e.g., flammable perfume, aerosols) totaling no more than 70 ounces may be carried on board. Contents of each container may not exceed 16 fluid ounces."

I'd carry the saline in my carry on, along with the nebulizer (yes, I know it's bulky) just incase the luggage were to be lost. I never trust the airlines with anything as important as medication.

I carried the nebulizer and meds in my carryon and had no problem carrying it on the plane. I wouldn't want to take the chance. Do you have the nice new portable neb?/ I didn't know about this before my trip but it is the size of a walkman radio. It's worth looking into. I wasted an entire carryon for the machine and meds. good luck

My DD hasn't had to use her neb in a while, but my dad is now using one and he has these handy little 'pillows' of medication instead of the medication and bronco-saline separately. I don't know if that would be something you can use, but it has worked out great for him. It is a lot less hassle. Wish they had that when DD needed it. Maybe you can ask your Dr.

Read the label now a days they use a non flammable ingredients for the aerosol propellant. I use an aerosol saline solution for my contacts and have packed it in check in luggage just last month. I haven't had it on carry on for a year or so. To bulky. Hope that helps.
