:)What is the procedure on how you transfer points from one member to another? Any information on this would be helpful...thanks in advance.pixiedust:

I transferred points to someone a few years ago. It was very easy. You need their membership number. Once you have that, call DVC and let them know you need to transfer points from your membership number to the other membership number.

Im not sure but i would think that both parties would have to agree in writing to the transfer. I would think paperwork would have to be faxed in.

There is no paperwork required. I have had a few transfers of points into my account over the years. The member who has the points needs your member number, name and I usually also provide my address and phone number. Not sure if MS asks for the address and phone. Otherwise, that is all there is to it.

You don't even need the membership number (although that certainly helps). You just need the member's name and address to transfer points to another member.

There is no need for any paperwork since this is a final transaction and cannot be reversed once the transfer has been completed. The member transferring the points just needs to call MS to initiate the action. The transferee does not need to do anything with MS - just enjoy the points once they are in their account.

Enjoy! :)

this is very cool for those who have good friends you can trade points back and forth with.

once traded how do the points work?
are they still looked at as points from the original owner's home resort?
do they become points to the home resort of the receiver of the points able to be used 11 months out?
or are they restricted to the 7 month time frame?

Transferred points will retain their original Use Year (month) and Home Resort. They will not assume the Home Resort of the account into which they were transferred and can be used at their original Home Resort at 11 months. At 7 months they may be used at any DVC resort.

If you are trying to have enough points for a reservation at a specific resort at 11 months you will need to accept a transfer from a contract where that is the Home Resort.

I think they can be banked but not borrowed. Do I have that right Doc? (or is it can be borrowed but not banked?)

Once transferred, the points may be banked into the following Use Year (still maintaining their original use month and Home Resort status). Transferred points cannot be borrowed so if you need points for a trip during your 2012 Use Year, make sure the Use Year of any transferred points are also good during the dates you wish to travel - no problem if the points are February,2012 and you need them for a trip in April, 2013 since they can be banked - but not good if they are from May, 2013 since those points cannot be borrowed for a trip in April, 2013.

Members are allowed to transfer points from their current and next Use Year. If you have a June (or later) UY you could transfer points from your 2011 and 2012 UY with one call to MS. If you have a Feb, Mar or Apr UY you may transfer points from your 2012 and 2013 UYs.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it correct that you can only have one transfer in OR out in one UY?

Yes - only one transfer in OR out per Use Year so that will definitely put the kibosh on trading "back and forth". Still, you can get a transfer of points into your current use year (say 2012) and could then transfer out your next use year (2013).
