How to thank a friend for an incredible weekend?

We spent Memorial weekend with a friend from most of Friday through Monday morning. She was able to get us all this villa that runs $250 a night per room (she got the villa free because she knows the owner), she bought nearly ALL the food and drinks, cooked for us, bought my daughter's ticket to Cedar Point, gave my daughter $40 to spend (on top of what we'd already given her!), bought me this special snack that's hard to find when she saw it in a store, sent me home with a beautiful jade plant just because I admired it so much, and more that I might be missing... and wow. I just can't believe her generosity. We'd given her a bottle of wine when we got there and chipped in here and there on some things, but nothing could come close to what she did to make the whole thing happen.

I plan on sending her a card, but that just seems so inadequate after incredible weekend she provided to her friends and family. I want to express my appreciation, but also don't want to come off like I'm going tit for tat or one-upping her, you know what I mean?

I swear, I'm still riding on such a high after this trip, and in talking to some of my other friends who were there, they are too!

You know, she did it because she LOVES you :)

That said, a heartfelt letter explaining WHY this was so wonderful for you would be a very nice thing!

I would send her a thank you note and a gift card to somewhere she really likes.

Yup, I agree, a nicely written heart-felt thank you LETTER (not card) would make me want to do it again for you:cloud9:

I'm assuming that you took pictures, right? How about a nice note and a scrapbook of the weekend.

No good pictures, unfortunately! :guilty: My camera recently broke and the one I took with me took terrible pictures.

But I love the idea of a handwritten note.

What is her favorite store? We have a friend who has been so kind over the years. She loves Pottery Barn, so I just send her a note with a gift certificate every now and then. I also try to choose a basket with a fabric print or something to put it in (one year I got lucky and matched her pool house sofa dead on!)

Wow I think just expressing how wonderful the weekend was like you did to all of us would be perfect.

Sounds like you have a treasure of a friend there!!

I usually leave some cash on the dresser

Bummer about not having any good pictures, I was going to suggest making one of those photo books online. That is a really nice gift!!

I know! My other friend brought her camera, but every time we were sitting around talking and in groups, we were having so much fun that none of us thought to bring out the camera. It was only when we were wandering around by ourselves, looking at the grounds.

We're talking about doing it again on Labor Day weekend, so I think I might assign my daughter the task of being "group photographer." :thumbsup2

We also came up with the idea of doing like a 30 minute dinner -- we each get 30 minutes at the stove throughout the day to make one of our favorite dishes for everyone.
