How to submit a room request

I'm newer to DVC and I'm curious on how to make room requests. (Other than the vague ones offered on the MDE online check-in) I've heard conflicting information and was hoping to find out the preferred method that Disney prefers. Thanks

Call MS, use chat feature (when available), or send an email (under Help & Contact) on the member website.

Don't bother faxing in a request. Just chat or email, like Michael suggests. You can get to both of those methods on the member website. I usually email and get a response back in a few days.

I'm in the email camp as well. You'll get a reply that says they have noted the information, and no guarantees that they will be met. I have placed room requests via the phone with MS, via chat and with email. I haven't noticed any difference in "success rate" with one method or the other. So my thought is why tie up a CM's time for something that is not time sensitive?

What does seem to make a difference is what time of day that I check in. The earlier the better, based on personal experience and reading anecdotal evidence in 19 years on this and other Disney boards.

We do requests via email, always pointing out specific reservation number, room category and dates. You eventually get a reply to your email noting that your requests have been made. We make a copy of any email we send on the DVC site. The most important reason we use email is because it (a) gives us a writing showing what was done, and (b) because of that we have something to refer back to when we get about 30 days out and cannot specifcally remember whether or what requests were made.

I'm new to DVC, definitely not new to Disney.....no requests are guaranteed but if you don't ask, you can't expect them to read your mind.

I use email. I give them a description and 5 or 6 room numbers. Works most of the time. I’ve had the park view at VGC several times.

I have never rented our points out, but It is my understanding that the person you are renting from would have to make the request.
