How to submit a complaint

If I am on the DDP and I have problems with paying OOP or sharing meals, whom do I contact? I have heard that I should contact Disney Dining while still in the restaurant (Is this necessary) but I have also heard that it is best handled by the resort you are staying at (whom exactly...just anyone at the desk)? If DD is the ones to contact, is it the same number we us to make ADRs?

Anyone who has had experience with these contacts

Am I reading your question right? You haven't even gotten there yet and want to know who to complain to? Is paying OOP or sharing meals against the rules of the plan? I would think you wouldn't have a problem at counter service places but at TS places you would.

I think out of ALL the DISers who've used the MYW Dining Plan, only one was told at one meal that they couldn't pay out of pocket for their childrens' meal/s. So I have to go along with Jenny and Alison in wondering why the OP is expecting to have problems, to the point of wanting to know before the trip how to complain.

It has been my experience that if one goes anywhere with a positive attitude, and expects the best most times the event lives up to the expectation. The same holds true with a negative attitude. It is possible that the event will turn out just like the expectation. I am going to use the dining plan expecting to enjoy it, and will hope that I find it worth the price. I will also use it the way I think that it is intended to be used. I may find some aspects of the plan don't work for us, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

One problem with hearing all of the pros and cons that people have encountered using the plan is that I also worried that I could not choose which meals that I wanted to pay out of pocket, as we are over on our TS reservations. But after reading thru all of them (I'm addicted to the food threads) it seems that most people have no problems with paying OOP or sharing meals.

I would suggest that the OP stop worrying and enjoy the freedom the plan allows. Have a great time!

I have been reading post after post after post about people who have been given guidelines from Disney but are being told contradicitng policies. I have been watching the dining board for several weeks now so this is not just a casual observation. WHat you might call a "negative attitude" and what I might call advanced planning may indeed be two different things.

If Disney's literature says appetizer, entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage. than I should be able to get any item that meets the above description. PERIOD! I have seen posts where milk is the "exception", where the dessert was limited to ice cream (although many other desserts were available), where certain higher priced entrees were excluded. This is to name only a few that I have observed. This is WRONG.

Frankly I am mystified that the responses to my question were so aghast....After reading the various problems that I have seen arise with DDE, why should I NOT have a game plan to insist on what I have already paid for. I have seen on many posts that the plan can be administered in a seemingly arbitrary manner. So I simply want to know what the least confrontational manner is to pursue my rights! WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH THAT!

By the way. We have a family of 5 adults. So there is non of this child for adult swaping...if that was the concern. I have seen many posts that do not allow OOP payment for members of the family and sharing meals for NON_BUFFET meals.

Is there anyone else out there that can answer my original post and renew my faith in the openness and fairness of this board!

Exactly. The restaurants have the right to impose certain restrictions whether people like it or not.

The DP brochure says to contact your hotel's front desk should you need assistance with your meal plan balance.

I would suggest you tell your server prior to ordering that you're on the DP (I believe the brochure says to present your key/resort ID card). At that point, tell the server you'll be paying OOP for however many meals and the rest will be on the DP. As for sharing, it is my understanding that this is allowed as long as you're not at a buffet or all-you-care-to-eat restaurant.

Just be prepared as they do reserve the right to change the terms/components of the plan at any time.

I think you'll be okay.

Just ask about any restrictions before you order. If you don't like the answer leave and take your business somewhere else.

The brochure says terms are subject to change and the restaurants that seem to be limiting your choices are restaurants that aren't Disney owned.

Sorry Rainman, I was not trying to get your knickers in a twist. I was not thinking about the child credit thing, and would not touch that topic with a ten foot pole. I also think that restrictions should be spelled out, which is why I also will let my server know that I am using the dining plan. Having said that, I simply suggested that you not worry too much about the issue. I think that when one is worried too much about something, it is detected by others, and this may be percieved as negative by your server. Sorry if my phrasing was also negative. It was not my intention. When someone opened a thread asking patrons who have been denied items to post....there were almost no responses. Most were problems that were being discussed that were not experienced first hand. I will take the advice that WDWBETSEY suggested if my family runs into problems, and discuss with my hotel front desk. I will not patronise a restaurant that is too restrictive, so I will leave if there is not enough variety. I can tell you that I have poured over the food threads, and have chosen restaurants that seem to allow the plan in the manner that my family will enjoy, and have avoided others that people have stated they encounted restrictions that my family would not like. As Lewis said, the ones that I chose to avoid were not Disney owned. Good luck.

that it seems the documentation gets longer and longer and longer with all the "what if's". Not that is a bad thing its just funny that even in my job I have written standards for procedures and polices (IT stuff) and when my document was first published it was maybe 20 or so pages. 5 years later and all the "what if's" scenarios came about and its over 50+ pages now. I think it even got to a point that it was too long for folks to even spend time reading.....

Just got back from a 7 day with four adults and experienced NO problems. We were told at Cinderella's Royal Table that "You can choose from the first three desserts", the one that was not included was the one that came in the take home glass. That being said, had I experienced problems, I would have asked first for the manager, and if a satisfactory response was not forthcoming, I would have then called 404-WDW-Dine, while still in the restaurant. Good luck to you, I think you will really enjoy the plan. Incidentally, I was told when making ADR's that sharing and paying oop should be no problem, and while we did not share any meals, we paid oop at one, and half the party paid oop at another. We just let the server know up front so that he was able to ring it up correctly the first time.
