Like people said SCAN them... that way you will always have them if fire or flood or something else invades your storage area.
now the best way after they are scanned instead of scrapbooks is Photobooks then you could even distribute to close family and friends.
Photobooks are easy to make. Since nobody uses or prints film anymore for the last 10 years I have been taking our most memorable digital images throughout they year and make my wife a photobook of all the pics and I give it to her for xmas.
