My DD wants this for her Bday and has wanted one for a long time. I have never seen them on sale. Am I missing it in the weekly fliers? Anyone have any idea how I can save money on one? TIA!

Sometimes Target will have it on sale, a few times a year. Not sure when they'll have it on sale next. The regular price is $129.99, but they usually have it at least $5 - $10 cheaper when its on sale.

If you have a Target visa and get a 10% off shopping day (for earning 1000 points), that's another way to get it cheaper.

I have a feeling they will go down in price when the new DSi comes out in April. The new one looks SOOO cool!

Thanks, but I don't have a Target where I live. Only Walmart.

I need it before that.
I don't know who is going to be able to afford it at 170.00 plus the cost of games.

I don't understand why your Walmart is selling them $170, they are only $129.99 every where everyday I would shop around. They only other suggestion I can offer is to look at store that only sell game systems and games for a refurbished one. I know I saw a used one for around $80 and you can buy used games cheaper too. We have bought lots of used games and traded in games we didn't play anymore for store credit. So worth it. If you buy a used DSlite they will usually give you a warranty on it so no worries there.

no no the 170$ is for the NEW DSi. Its not out yet you can find more info on it here http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-DSi-..._1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1235940545&sr=8-1

You can buy a used one at Gamestop for 99.99. Or look on ebay.com. They sell them there even cheaper sometimes. We bought one used and had no problems. Used games at Gamestop are great too.

While I am not sure this is still an option, when they first came out, my kids got all of their old games and movies and sold them at blockbuster and got enough credit to buy one. Like I said, this was a few years ago and not sure if blockbuster still does trades, but it would be worth a phone call.

I have seen some good deals on craigs list? Most of the time they are bundled with some games as well.

The DS Lites don't seem to be discounted much, a la Apple. It appears to be a manufacturer decision, not a retailer decision. I'm just gleaning this info, so don't quote me!

The only sort of discount that I found (bunches before Xmas, not so much now) were "bundles", which included a game (sometimes of your choice, sometimes of a limited amount of choices) and/or accessories (like a car charger). Try doing a search on "DS lite bundles". I found some in the last few weeks at Walmart.com, but they were "currently unavailable".

I looked at DS lites before Xmas and in the last few weeks (DD's 9th birthday), and this is the info that gathered. And things can change quickly, e.g. with the bundles being available and then not so much (esp. with this new DSi coming out - I'd anticipate the price dropping on the DS Lite!).

I'm not so sure the Lite will be discounted when the DSi comes out. The DS Lite is still a big time seller. I could see maybe a $10 drop in price, but not much more than that. If you can wait until its closer to the DSi coming out, I could see the DSLite going on sale, but not a big price drop. Since you only have a Walmart, I don't know if it ever goes on sale there.

As for buying a used one.......I'd rather have a new DSL than a used one, especially if the warranty has run out on a used one.
