How to safely change park reservation?

I specifically booked Swan so we could walk over to HS on Thursday May 27th and then hopefully hop to Epcot later in the day, it seems to be the less busy park and is convenient for the Swan. I booked a week ago or so and HS has been full for ressies and at the time MK, AK and EP were open. I figured worst case I would stick with EP and then just hop to HS but I would aggressively try to switch ressies. I am worried that HS might get full and I trully would prefer doing HS first and then EP. In order to look for HS, I have to cancel EP and since it is the only park free at this time am worried that it might get full while I am searching and then I have NOTHING! I did make many attempts last week to drop Epcot and add HS but I felt safe doing that because at that time the calendar showed availability for AK, too now that is is only Epcot, I'm a worried.

Did this happen to anyone over spring break?

Did anyone have better luck trying to get HS last minute?

Anyone have an issue hopping to HS?

It seems a waste of time doing EP first because there are only a few rides I even care about there but there are a bunch at HS.

Other option is we did get HS later in the week so maybe I could start at EP and then hop to AK or MK? Transportation wise which makes more sense?

What would you do?

FYI it is just me, my 18 year old daughter and an 11 year old son so we can move fairly fast : )

A week or so ago I tried to change my May 2 park reservation from MK to Epcot. I couldn't do it online unless I first canceled the MK and was hesitant to do that (MDE is quirky and I was afraid I would cancel MK and then get an error message, and Epcot was the only park showing ability).

So I called and spent 90 minutes on hold, just to have a CM tell me that I had to cancel the MK reservation and then schedule Epcot - there was no way to hold one until after securing the other the way you can with dining or Fastpass reservations. When I told her my concern about possibly not being able to get Epcot, her answer was, "Right. You better not wait." Anyway, I was able to get Epcot after canceling MK. This is not a good system.

There is no other way to do it other than canceling one to try for the other.

But no one has had any issue hopping to any park any day since it restarted. Even days when regular park reservations were fully booked.

I would guess you can drop Epcot and then try for HS. If it’s not available, you can just reschedule Epcot again. We dropped an AK day while Epcot was the only park available, which was what we wanted. When I went in to make a new park reservation, all the parks were available, even though the availability calendar showed only Epcot.

I have only been cancelling what shows available, Epcot, and trying to book HS. The website is petty weak in having the cancel not appear where you book, but luckily it's easy to rebook Epcot when it tells you HS isn't available. There have been people saying they were able to change even when HS was indicated as full, so don't rely on calendar is the lesson learned.

This morning I just upgraded to park hopper so I can at least visit I'd it never comes my way. I refuse to stress over this, and enjoy whatever I get. :)

Hey akck, how many days out are you? I am May 18th for when I want to change.

I changed last Friday for our Tuesday park day. I did play with it but didn’t go past the first screen before going back and selecting Epcot.
