How to request a window table at Sanaa

I have 5pm dinner reservations at Sanaa on April 30. How do I request a window table? Do I ask the host? Do I call ahead of time? If I call, how early?

You ask when you get there. If there's one available that will fit your party they'll do it. If it's not available, you might be able to say you will wait until one is. Or you may not.

Can you Go for lunch instead? The first operating hour. They give food to animals at 11 am, it's fun to watch outside and at opening They sing and play tam tam. When you proceed to the restaurant They place you at Window table, you don't have to Ask!

1) You ONLY ask when you get to the podium.
. . . cannot request on ahead of time
. . . there is no preference as to who can get one or not
. . . lots of folks claim a "special occasion", so this carries no weight when asking
2) Remember, window seats are always in demand.
3) So, it is just chance whether you get one or not.
4) There are eight window tables and six more with good views.

NOTE: The SEATER at the podium has no control over your table. The ASSIGNER who walks around with a computer tablet does all the table assignments. The podium person can text the ASSIGNER and request a location, but the ASSIGNER does not have to honor the request.

My experience is also that Sanaa will not seat parties of 2 (or solo guests) at a window seat even if you have an ADR for opening at either lunch or dinner or politely ask or politely offer to wait. They are 4 tops and Sanaa intends to seat parties of 3 or 4 at those tables. I have seen window seats sit empty for the entire length of my meal as I ate at my 2 top deeper in the restaurant. I have also watched parties of 2 get up from their 2 top tables after placing their order and carry their drinks to an empty 4 top window seat (much to the consternation of the waiters). Sanaa is a beautiful restaurant with quality food regardless of whether you get a coveted window seat or not. And if you have an ADR for dusk or later, you can't see much anyway. If you are a party of 2 or solo guest, pls don't get your hopes up for a window seat.

We have been seated at a window table as a party of two on several occasions.

Thanks for the info everyone! We are a party of three so we will ask when we arrive.

Can't wait!

If possible, bump your ADR to 4:30pm and arrive at 4 for the free tour. You will be shown around the restaurant by a cultural ambassador, hear details about the artwork, sample the bread service then at the end of the tour you listen to the drums and signing of them opening the restaurant then you get seated for your ADR.
My daughter and I really got the royal treatment, including a window seat!

I believe the first dinner seating is at 5:00. We got there about a quarter till and I didn't even ask. They placed us at s window table. I think having a cute toddler helped ;)

Oh ya, you're right about 5pm being first seating. I wonder if it was different in august 2015. Anyway, i highly suggest checking the resort schedule for the tour that is immediately prior to opening.

So have we, every time our last four visits. And when we were there three weeks ago, there actually was a two-top at a window (back left). As with most venues, one can merely ask and hope for the best, but if you dine early (lunch or dinner), your odds increase. I would agree that many tables have good views beyond just the window tables.

While we've only experienced this with lunch, it's typically the first handful of groups that are seated at the start of meal service that get the window tables. That's not to say people seated later for each meal couldn't get a window seat, but you will have to ask for it when you check in and prepare to wait for one of those tables to open. Either way, Sanaa is a wonderful restaurant :)

We asked for one at the entrance and were told there would be a wait. We waited about 10 minutes. IT WAS SOOO worth it! Absolutely lovely.

We were a party of two and they seated us at a four-top window table--right next to an empty two-top window table. I thought that was odd, but I was just happy to be next to the window.

We have always been a party of two (my husband and I) and have been seated at a window table every time. I hope that I get one this Thursday at lunch, I'll be taking my younger daughter for the first time.
