I'm hoping for some advice!

I just found a wasp's nest, on the side of our house, partially hidden behind some bushes.

It is about 3 inches long and 1 inch high. I noticed it this morning when I passed by to take my dog for a walk. There were quite a few wasps on and in it!!!

I'm not sure how to get rid of it!!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!::MinnieMo

Wait until dark, then spray it with wasp spray. I suggest after spraying it, you run like the wind. ::yes::

Exactly my thoughts, except for a couple days in a row before removing the thing I think!

DH sprays the little ones he finds with wasp spray 2 or 3 nights in a row, at or just a little after dusk.

Then after the 3rd time, he blasts the nest down with the hose.

He is also always prepared to 'run like the wind' when doing this.

I used to give 'em a whack with a broom handle. Then I ran like the wind(into the house).:D

I've always sprayed them with heavy doses of wasp spray late at night. I agree, be prepared to run like crazy.

hubby has sprayed a few and they both were gone after the first spray.. he did spray like the whole can though and was stung a few times though. He is not as scared from bugs as I am lol.

Wait until after it cools down after dark.

Get some good spray that you can shoot from 25 feet away-DH has several different types he uses.

If you are really worried, call a professional. Wasps seem to be more agressive than they used to be.

Good luck.

Wow! Thank you for all the replies!

I'm heading out now to get some wasp spray! My hubby is at work, doesn't know what he is in for tonight!!

We burn them......................get a decent size piece of paper light it & then light the nest with it & get out of the way..............that 's the best solution rather than spraying it

Long distance wasp spray. As soon as the stuff hits them, they drop to the ground.....but just in case, make sure you got your running shoes on:p

Great advice, spray and run. ::yes::

A: "Reopen the debate board."

Oh sorry, you really do have a bees nest. For that issue, I spray with the bee spray with the long stream. Saturate it really well. Watch the next day to see if you have any live ones. Spray again the next night or next week if you have signs of life. Then, you can cut the branches it is woven through and throw it away.

I had one last summer. It was in a city-owned tree in front of my house and the branch that it was on was directly over my driveway. I called the department of forestry (I think!) and they sent an exterminator over. He sprayed it with something and then cut it down and took it away. He left all the dead wasps on the ground though. I took out my hose and cleared them all away.

we have found approximately 7 wasp nests in our back yard (2 on the house, the rest under the deck railings) and DH uses this method.

the deck is new (as is the house)...he said they like the 'new wood' so that's why we're finding so many.

usually the dog finds them...if we find her sniffing/looking in one area long enough...9 times out of 10 there is a nest there.

watching DH poke it with a broom handle and run is the funniest thing. :)

This is how we deal with ours!

Stinkerbelle, I thought you were going to quote the "big orange book!"

My DH may own the 'big orange book'...but he still has his own way of doing things. ;)

He took a tree down this past Saturday in our side yard. I'm sitting on the back deck, I had NO idea what he was doing - all of a sudden I hear a tree start to fall - i look through the house windows and see a tree falling in the side yard. I jump up and start running down the stairs (as is my neighbor who was outside having a party)...we both just stare at my DH and the tree laying across my driveway...luckily he didn't hit anything..he had ropes tied to everything so that it 'fell the right way'.

hmm..luckily i had no where to go for the next hour as he hacked up the tree! hehehe
