I have been a stay at home mom for 7 years. I really think I might like to look for work. But I have no idea how to do it!
I have my assoc. degree in Physical therapy. And worked as an assistant for almost 18 years. My last job was in early intervention. I was there for 5. So my skills for acute care, out patient and even rehab is dated!
I did talk to one recuriter who called. Spoke to her about 15 minutes. But by the end of the call I could tell she wasn't interested. I really only want part time and maybe even just PRN....But how do I make myself sound marketable?
I know if any early intervention jobs opened up I wouldn't have a problem. But with all the changes in health care......I feel like it is a loosing battle!

I hope you get responses to this. This would be a very interesting thread.

First, I suggest you decide specifically on what type of position you REALLY want, and what is your fall back position. Maybe I just misread your post, but you mention quite a few options, maybe part time, maybe not.

Once you decide, I would ask for a quick courtesy appointment with a few health care providers- whether there's an opening or not. Tell them the purpose of the meeting...you're getting back into the work force and you want to know what type of opportunities are out there, if you need any certifications, training etc. that would help. Basically, be honest. Tell them your situation, and most people will try to offer help.

Employment agencies don't care about you. They care about whatever positions they have available that need to be filled. Also, check out Monster and Yahoo jobs. Look for positions that even remotely interest you and carefully read the job description and requirements. This will help you figure out what experience, training, skills, etc. employers are looking for.
