How to pronounce PALO

This was just on another thread, and I think that somebody said that, with the name being Italian....

It is not Pal - O (as in the word pal....)

I think they said it was

Pahhh - lo as in, open wide and say ahhhh

If I am remembering right???????

.... just don't call me late for dinner!

Since my DW says I do everything backwards anyway, I'll just pronounce it "Oh-Lap".:jester:

On our recent Magic cruise they pronounced it "Paul-o" but it really doesn't matter how you say it as long as you eat there! Mmmmmm!

Okay, agreed, the true Italian pronuncation is PAH-lo. :)

But I heard plenty of people on the ship calling it PAL-lo.

And I also agree that no matter WHAT it is called, eat there! :p

Palo is the fellow that would be poling your boat through the canals of Venice. You know, striped shirt, straw hat, serenading you in Italian...:)

Loretta

Palo is simply Italian for pole -- in this case, a striped pole in Venice, to which a gondola is tied when not in use.

Also, while on the subject of pronounciation (not spelling, lol!!) Please remember it is Castaway Key, and Parrot Key. Not " Caaaay" , not "see" , not "say" !!
