DS16 is going on a school trip on American Airlines on Thursday. They charge $25 for the first checked bag. Can he pay cash for this? Or will he need a credit card and if so can he used a prepaid one?

Thanks

We flew United Airlines last year and I paid our baggage fees using cash. All $250.00 round trip. Yikes!

When dd flew to Roatan for a 6 week dive internship we were able to pay extra bag fees in advance on the web .. by CC obviously .. this was American. Pull up the ressie on their web site and see if you can't pre-pay BOTH WAYS.

I'm 99% confident that any form of valid CC will work: regular credit card OR pre-paid card.

And I suspect cash is OK too!

DD went with a school group to Las Vegas last summer. We got her a $50 prepaid card. We checked her in for the departing flight on line and used the card to pay her baggage fees. When the group was checking in for the return flight (kiosk at Vegas airport), it wouldn't accept the prepaid card. Her teacher ended up paying for her luggage (DD later gave her the prepaid card with the money on it). I don't know if DD wasn't doing something right, but wanted to let you know.

Thanks, I called American and they said cash would work.

He is getting his ticket on Thurs when he gets to the airport so I can not log on and use my credit card. They were bought by a fellow school they are traveling with. I also will not be with him at the airport because they are doing a carpool from the school.
