I need advice on how to take my son's medicine, a white powder, with us on the trip. I guess my question is how can I do this so it will be OK through the airport? It comes in a gigantic bottle that lasts several months since he's being weaned off. I believe we'll need it for the trip, though (it's a laxative :thumbsup2 ) So, I don't want to take the bottle, which I am guessing it is about a liter size.

Do I have any options for taking a smaller amount? :confused3

I would ask the pharmasist if they could label a smaller container for you to fly with. I don't think I would risk taking an unlabeled medication through security and I wouldn't risk paking a medication that was needed.

We travelled with PEGlyte which comes in a gigantic bottle, and is white powder. The pharmicist repackaged it into 4 or 5 smaller screw top bottles (like the kind perscription diaper rash creme would come in, but larger) each labelled. Although I later found out that you can buy it in smaller paper pouches, 4 to a pack. It is an over the counter product, but the pharmacist was happy to do this for me with no problems. HTH

Is it Miralax? My dd takes that and they recently started selling over the counter. There are some small bottles of it you can purchase, if not why not put your large bottle in a ziploc in your checked baggage?

When I would take my dsil to the airport, she would have to bring a plastic baggie with some thick it ( it is also a white powder) we label the baggie with marker and then when we take her thru security we always let them know what it is. One time they stopped her and tested it for cocaine. My poor dsil couldn't speak (sever speach impediment due to a head injury) to tell them but she sure did have a huge laugh over it.

I have traveled with a large bottle of Glycolax--another white powder. I just packed it in the bottle in a gallon sized ziplock. I put it in my checked bag and have never had a problem. If you want to carry it in your carryon bag, just be sure to have the prescription. You will be fine.

This is probably the easiest thing. The pharmacist can print a duplicate label and put it on a smaller container. The only potential problem I can see is that the label will list the giant size, but it could be in grams, which security might not notice.

I think this is a common thing for when you need a labeled med container for school.
