I am taking my family next week to DL and am taking my 67 year old mom who has bad mobility issues and usually uses a wheelchair we decided to rent her a scooter so we don't have to push her around the park.

I have seen and heard about others obtaining medical passes for people who can't wait in line or are in wheelchairs. How do they get them? We were thinking of doing this for my mom, she doesn't want to ride much, in fact she can't ride much because of her mobility issues. Does anyone know where to go or do I need to bring a doctors note?

Any help would be very helpful. Thanks!

You are talking about the Guest Assistance Card. If your mother is in a scooter or wheel chair, you will not need a card. You will be able to access rides through the Handicapped entrance. You are allowed up to 5 additional family members.

You can stop by Guest Services when you enter the park and get a handout on how handicapped accessibility works. You do not need a Dr.'s note.

My mother has mobility issues and we are planning to pre-rent a scooter for her for the last 3 days of our trip, just in case she can't walk anymore. We got a quick doctors note outlinging her conditions and the disability that comes with it. We plan on getting my mom the Guest Assistance Card (GAC) when we get there and let her decide when she needs to start using the scooter (hopefully she can make it without it, but better safe than missing out on Disney stuff) :)

Thanks! We'll be sure to do that.

:)Just an FYI.....Disney CM's aren't allowed to ask for, or see any medical info. because of privacy issues. They will just talk to you about the condition and then assess the need for the pass.

I recommend going at park opening or park close to get the Guest Assistance Card. We had to get one for my DD and during the day the line for City Hall was almost always huge! :scared1: As to getting one we found it quite easy. While my DD does not have to have a wheelchair, though this trip we considered it, she cannot stand for long periods of time. All the CM asked is what the issue was, ie mobility, then the dates we were there for. My DD had to initial the card and we were on our way.

2 things to note. In order to use the card the person who has the mobility issue needs to be going on the ride and most rides in DCA do not have a separate entrance. For this park they recommended that if the standing here would be too much of an issue then to get a wheelchair for there. Grizzly does have a handicapped line, which enters through the exit if I remember correctly.

One last note, on some rides, such as Big Thunder, the CM will confirm that in an emergency the guest can utilize stairs. They have to do this because in case of a walk off there are some stairs you will have to use. Other than that we found it quite easy to use when we did and the CMs were quite helpful. :cutie:
